Having a crush is normal.

Having a crush on the schools most popular kid is normal.

Having a crush on your best friend is abnormal.

I was warned by many people that I would fall for him. I denied. I didn't look at him the way I look at him then. If I could crawl myself out of love, I would.
Maybe.
I liked having the crush. As much as it was hurting me that he didn't like me back, I liked how it made me feel. The butterflies, goosebumps, shivers, it was cool.
You can call me the weirdest person on earth. It's a compliment really.
Now, who was this mysterious best friend of mine whom I have a crush on.

Kai Smith.

I would be terrified if he did.

"You guys! It's going to be fun!" I yanked my friends over; Martina and Nadiea. They didn't go to the same school as me. That was the only time that we could hang out. They were hesitant, but they gave in after.
They both went to the same private school, as I went to Ninjago Public High School.
Their private school was so strict that they gave massive loads of work. Every time I would ask them to hang, they both couldn't make it.
Luckily, that week was 'no homework week' and it landed on the week of the yearly county fair.
"Can't you guys believe that we're finally all together? I was about to kill your teachers," I strained. Martina gave a light laugh as Nadiea shook her head.

"Please do so. I don't think I could bear another minute with them talking about useless shit," Nadiea rolled her eyes.

"Tickets please," the cashier asked us. I gave him all of ours to scan. When he was done I ran into the fair, breathing in the sweet air of all the sweet goods. I spun around to get a whiff of everything. I sighed in delight.
Freedom was nice.

"Y/n? We didn't know you'd be here," Cole waved over. I grinned ear to ear. Could that day be any better? With my friends falling behind me, I ran and jumped onto my big brother. (I know this is stereotypical but bare with me).
Cole had been travelling with the ninja a lot and was barely home. Seeing him and the rest there made me giddy. I cared for all of these people with all of my heart.
"Hey, idiot," he ruffled my hair.

"Dumbass," I lightly punched his shoulder. He laughed as he put me down.
"You didn't tell me you guys were free." I looked at all of them. Jay looked like he wanted to break but calmed down.

"We did. You didn't answer our texts," Jay strained through his teeth, eye twitching and hands into a fist. I furrowed my eyebrows as I took out my phone from my back pocket. I found all of the messages sent by every ninja. Realizing I was wrong, I chuckled nervously as I slipped it back into my pocket. Jay seemed to calmed down.
"Typical," he crossed his arms.

"Anyways....these are my besties; Martina and Nadiea," I gestured towards them. After introductions, Kai came up behind me and snaked his arms around my waist. My stomach flipped exactly twice, if only he knew.
"Hi, weirdo."

"Hello, gorgeous," he said, peppering a small kiss on my temple. I scrunched up my nose, lines forming around, shaking my head. That time shivers went down my spine. I had the strongest urge to grab his face and kiss the life out of him.
As per usual, I had to restrain my self. Like I did the other five hundred and thirty-two times. I counted. He did this so much I decided to count.
"Missed me?" He asked in my ear, his hot breath tickling me. I thought about it playfully before coming up with an answer.
