I arrived early for class today and was the first one there. I didn't sleep a wink last night, so I feel like a zombie. I hadn't eaten anything since lunch yesterday, but I wasn't hungry. The only thing I could think about was what was going to go down tomorrow.
A hand slams down on my desk. "Hello? Are you listening, magnet-face?"
I snap out of my thoughts and look up to see Bakugou. 'Shit.' I remember the stuff I found out about him yesterday and now he almost seems like a stranger. 'How could I have not noticed?' "Yeah, what?"
"Are you okay? You look like you haven't slept for years." He mutters.
"Are you worrying about me?" I weakly tease him.
"No, are you stupid?" He suddenly exclaims.
"Such a tsundere, Katsu-chan." I say. 'Hint dropped.' His face looks like he's been hit by a truck.
"Tch, Don't call me that." He mumbles.
'Frick, mission failed.' I think. "Fine, Kacchan." I smirk.
"You look dead, so it's less effective." He smirks. I don't know why, but the smirk made my stomach flip. "Have you not slept?"
"No." I mutter as I rest my head on the desk. "I couldn't fall asleep and I haven't eaten since lunch yesterday, so I assume I look like a zombie."
"Idiot." He grumbles as he pulls his chair out of his desk behind me and sits down. "You need to take care of yourself."
"I know..." I reply groggily.
"Look, Rei." He states as he puts his hand on my shoulder. I turn around to face him, surprised by his sudden seriousness.
"I know." He says. My breath hitches in my throat and my palms start to sweat.
"Y-You know what?" I ask nervously. 'Has he figured it out? Does he know I'm a spy? Or maybe he knows about Katsu-chan and Rainy-chan's childhood friendship? Or maybe it's something else...?'
"I know wh-"
The classroom door slides open and effectively cuts Bakugou off. "Good morning, Rei."
"'Morning, Shoto." I say tiredly. He goes to sit down at his desk.
"What were you saying?" I turn back to face Bakugou.
"Nothing." He replies with his usual scowl painted across his face.
I raise an eyebrow at his reaction and turn back to face my desk. I rest my head on my arms for a bit. The noise level in the area around increases as the students fill up the class. My eyes were shut, but I wasn't asleep. I was listening in on the conversations around me, and the voices were becoming louder. I was too tired to make sense of the words coming out of people's mouths. I heard a chair scrape across the floor and pull up next to me. I opened my eyes to take a peek. I spot Shoto sitting down on a chair next to my desk with his back turned towards me defensively. I furrowed my brows in confusion and tried to listen in on what the others were saying.
"Don't touch her." He stated firmly.
"Ooh, is this a ship I smell?" I heard Ochako purr. "But admit that Rei-chan would be cute in a maid outf-"
"What?!" I exclaimed, jolting upward.
"Oh, you're awake." Shoto mumbled, the tips of his ears red. "You've woken her up." He said to the others.
"I'm going to side with Icy-hot." Bakugou grumbled. "I don't want you creeping up on the girls." He snarled at Mineta.
"Oh please." Tsu muttered. "You're only speaking for Rei."
