I've been on Asgard for a few weeks now and it's time to turn in my essay. I've been training with Thor and studying with Loki. I don't stay in the dining hall long. I grab my food and leave, returning to my chambers. I couldn't waste precious time with socializing. It truly was a bad time to start a new life. I enter the throne room with Loki. "Allfather," I curtsey.
"Eldrid. Loki. I have summoned you here on something very important." We both wait patiently on his explanation. "You have ground quite fond of each other through your studies. I assume they are going well?"
"Yes, father. Eldrid has learned a lot."
"Very good. I have decided to send you two to Midgard." I'm taken aback for a moment. "We wish to become allies with the place you call home. So, we are sending Loki to observe. I cannot send him alone because it is unfamiliar territory."
"How long will we be there?" Loki asks.
"A year with monthly updates."
I pace around my room, making sure I gathered everything. Once satisfied, I take one more glance at my room before leaving. On the way to Heimdall, Loki and I stay silent. I can tell he's nervous, but he won't admit it. We soon reach the Bifrost site. "Heimdall, the park where you picked me up from, please?" He nods and sends us the same park. I look around in the foggy grey air. It is early morning and the park is empty. "What is this place?"
"The local park. Children come here to play. It's a popular space, but not this early in the morning." He nods. I hear the sound of cars passing by. "Come on. We got to get home. You need Midgardian clothes if you want to stay here for a year." I grab his hand and begin to pull him with me.
He jerks his hand away. "Won't people think the wrong things?"
I laugh softly. "It's New York, hun. Nobody is going to say or think anything." I grab his hand again and he agrees to come with. I lead him to the small subway station. He looks around, fascinated as we head underground. Thankful I brought my wallet with me to Asgard for when I returned, I pull out my MetroCard and pay for our fare. He just follows closely, our hands cupped together. Once on the train, I grab Loki's arm and point at the rail above us. "Hang on." he does as I say.
"Are you not going to hold on?"
I smile softly and grab onto his arm the way he is holding the bar. "Holding on." The train starts and he wobbles a little. A look of delight covers his face. We soon reach a stop and some people get off. I notice two seats open up. "Come on," I pull him with me before someone else takes them. Once every lone is on, the train starts again. There is even another stop and some people get on. I see an older couple together. I notice no one is giving up their seat. I stand up slightly and touch the womens shoulder. "Excuse me. You can sit here," I point to out seats.
She smiles widely. "Thank you so much, young lady!"
"It is definitely my pleasure." I tap Loki and he stands up. I slowly push him to the center of the train. He looks at me with a soft smile. "What?"
"You gave your seat for an elder without hesitation." He keeps smiling.
I shrug. "I was being nice." The next stop is ours to get off. I lead him out, making sure I do not let go of his hand. The last thing I need is him getting lost. As I lead him down the sidewalk, he abruptly stops. "L-Loki." I stumble from being caught off guard.
His eyes are closed and a huge grin is on his face, "That smells delightful! What is that?"
I stop and take a small sniff. "Fresh donuts."
