Escape

I wake up, sobbing. I'm overwhelmed with disappointment, hatred, and sadness. The emotion is so strong. Once I'm able to control my crying, I look at myself in the mirror. I know what I need to do. I take a deep breath and teleport myself. I look at the smooth, white walls and reflective golden barriers. I notice the slouched figure in the corner. Some of the furniture is strewn about. I can feel the despair radiating from him. "Loki..."

He scoffs, shaking his head. "Finally got bored of sitting in your room?" He turns to me, straightening up. "I see you keep getting better at your magic. Illusions are hard to hide. Surprised I didn't sense you."

"I'm sorry..."

"For what? Did you kill Frigga?" I can tell he's putting on a façade, but I decide not to call him out on it.

"I'm not sure what it is you did, but it's not our fault."

"What are you talking about?" He picks up one of the books, flipping through it.

I sigh. "Your self blame."

"So Heimdall told you?"

"You knew?"

He scoffs and smiles, looking at me as if I'm stupid. "Everyone knows. It only happens once every millennia, you know." I don't say anything. "Why have you come? You're not even here. Just an illusion."

"To help. Loki, you need to know that you're not alone. We all miss her."

Loki laughs. "Do you now? How was the funeral? Wasn't invited, you know."

"You know why you-"

"No. Why?"

I shake my head. "Just let me help."

"Help with what? There's nothing you can do."

I roll my eyes. "Why are you acting this way?"

"YOU KNOW DAMN WELL WHY!" He yells, but I don't react. He walks close to me. "I would much rather be dead than be stuck in here. Do you know what it's like? Not seeing the sun or smelling the wind?" His voice is soft. He shakes his head and turns away, walking back to his corner. "IT'S ALL MY FAULT!"

I sigh. "Loki..."

"Leave." I don't do anything. "LEAVE!" He picks up the golden food tray off the floor and throws it at me. I duck, dodging the projectile. His anger rises. He throws a book at me and lean out of the way. He keeps throwing things as he walks closer, yelling at me to leave. Running out of things to throw, he raises his hand at me. Before he can swing, I hug him tightly. "You're..."

He freezes, surprised. "I'm here, Loki." He loosens up, hugging me back. He knees wobble and he falls to the ground, his arms still wrapped around me. He sobs into my stomach. I run my hand over his hair, comforting him. I feel my illusion of me in my room disappear. I close my eyes, examining my chambers. Thor is searching my room, worried. "I have to go. I'll come back. I promise," I crouch down and kiss the top of his head. I know he doesn't want me to leave, but I need to. "I promise," I repeat before teleporting back to my room. From my seat in my bathroom window, I look at Thor as he walks in. "What is it?" I softly say, climbing off the window frame.

"Come with me."

After the meeting with the Warriors Three and Sif, I follow Thor to the prison. "You stay here." I nod, knowing this moment is private. Soon, Thor returns with a well looking Loki.

Loki and I exchange a glance. Thank you. Loki thinks. I nod to him as well. His soft face suddenly turns into a cheery one. "This is so unlike you, brother. So clandestine. Are you sure you wouldn't rather just punch your way out?"
