My eyes open abruptly. I feel soft breathing on the back of my neck. My eyes go wide. Slowly, I move away from the sleeping figure. I hold my breath, hoping he doesn't stir in his sleep. I stand up from the air mattress and freeze. Hearing nothing from the bed, I let out a sigh and leave the room. I look at the wall clock. Great. It's 5 AM. I make my way to the kitchen. I start a pot of coffee. I begin going through the cabinets, looking for something to eat. I begin pulling various ingredients from the cabinets. I pull my hair into a bun and pull my apron on. I wash my hands and get started on making breakfast. Dad is the first one up. Today is his day off. "What are you making?"
"Blueberry muffins and chocolate chip muffins."
"Mm, yum" he reaches his hand into my chocolate chips and steals a couple.
I slap his hand. "Stay out." He laughs. He grabs a blueberry and throws it at me. "HEY!" I grab some flour and throw it at him. He dies the same. We both laugh loudly as we throw food stuff back and forth.
"What is going on in here?"
I freeze, looking at my mom, Adam, and Loki all looking very tired. "Uh... Breakfast." The oven beeps and I put in a tray of muffins and take the other one out. "It's your favorite," I say to mom in a sing song voice "Blueberry." I hold up the pan walk to her
She crumbles. "Oh alright. Just make sure you clean when you're done. I'm going to take a shower."
Once she's gone, dad and I high five each other. "Next time we get in trouble, it's your fault." I point my finger to him.
Loki looks at me for moment before laughing. "What? What are you laughing at?" Dad pulls out his phone and takes a picture, showing me. I laugh at myself.
Once we all eat breakfast, dad tells us to all get ready. I show Loki how to use the shower in my room. "What should I wear? I do not even know where we are going." He yells from the bathroom.
"I've laid out some clothes for you. I'm stepping out. Hurry up so I can take my shower." And with that, I leave the room. After a moment, he walks out in a green tshirt and black jeans. "My turn." I push him out of the way and take my own shower. It's the first actual shower in forever. Since I left for Asgard, it's been baths. I stand under the hot water. I grab my phone off the sink and turn on some music. Somebody to Love plays loudly through my phone speaker. I sing along with the Queen song, loudly. I wash myself and just enjoy the heat. Once out of the shower, I get dressed. I brought my clothes into my bathroom with me.
I open the door to see Loki sitting on my bed. "You have a beautiful voice."
I blush, "Thank you." I walk over to my vanity. I grab my hairbrush and brush through my wet hair. I decide to put it into two French braids. "We should really continue my magic lessons."
"Well, you have not tried to read my thoughts since that incident."
"And I'm ready again. Let's just wait until after our adventure today. I decide not to wear makeup. I look myself over again in the mirror. My blue leggings contrast with my black shirt and black combat boots. I toss Loki a pair of socks and his converse I bought him. He pulls them on and grabs his bag he brought from Asgard. He pulls out a very decorative gold comb from his bag. I watch as he combs his hair back and slicks it down. I smirk and reach up, ruffling his hair a little. "You needent be so formal."
"I enjoy formal." We both leave my room. We head out to the car. I sit between Loki and Adam to make it less awkward for both of them.
We arrive outside the roller rink. "Where are we?" Loki asks me quietly.
"The roller rink. Everytime dad had a day off, we would go somewhere fun."
He just nods. "Okay, gang." I laugh at how Dad my dad is. "Let's get this day underway! Remember, I have the first aid kid in the car. If there's blood or an audible snap, you need attention. Don't brush it off."
I laugh softly. "Dad, we know."
Loki leans into my ear. "Is this a game or sport? Is there fighting? Why would there be blood?"
"You'll see."
"Let's get going!" We all walk up to the window. "Hey, Tim!" He greets the young worker. "How's it going? Working hard or hardly working?"
"Working hard as always, sir."
Dad exchanges a few more quips before we go in. I hold onto my custom skates tightly. Loki is borrowing some of my dad's old ones. "Sit." I gesuture to the bench he does so and I still next to him. I pull my shoes off and he does the same. "You gotta tie these tight, so I'll help you." I pull my skates on and lace them up. I gen down on my knees in front of Loki and lace his shoes up too. "Okay, this takes a common skill. So take it slow." I help him stand up. My skates are inline, but his are regular. He wobbles for a second and put one hand on his stomach and one on his back. "Steady now."
"Easier said than done." I laugh and intertwine my fingers with his.
"Just stay straight. Push one foot forward and then the other. Like walking, but with wheels."
He soon gets the hang of it and I let go. "Hey, Dri. I'm doing it." He turns to smile at me and when he does, he falls.
Laughing, I rush over. "Are you okay?" I say through my laughs.
He shoots me an angry look. "This is fun?"
"Very. Here," I help him up. "Watch me." I prop him agjnst the rink barrier and I step into the wood. "And listen. You won't be able to verbally hear me in here." Got it? He nods at me. Good. Now you just need to keep going forward. Keep your eyes forward. I push off and speed away. Keep your knees bent. Push and push. I turn around. Got it? See? Simple. I reach him again and grab his hands. He skates forward as I skate backwards. I lead him with me.
"Dri, be careful. Watch out!" He gets very nervous. I'm glad he's finally showing. The month and a half I was with him in Asgard, he never shown his emotions. "You are going to get hurt."
"Am I?" I let go of his hands. I speed up, weaving in and out of people. I go around the rink, meeting back up with him. "There is a lot you don't know about me, Loki."
Soon, we eventually give up on skating and I show him how to play skeeball. I'm currently standing behind him. "Bring your arm back and.... ROLL!" I guide his arm. We make it in the 30. "Yes!" I hold up my hand. He just looks at me. I laugh.
"What?"
"It's a high five. Hit my hand. Like this," I high five myself before holding my hand up again. He high fives me. I smile ear to ear. He's doing surprising well.
"Did you suspect me to fail?"
"A little bit, yes. Just because both realms are very advanced, but in different ways. I'm having a hard time adjusting to Asgard. Did you see all the Midgardian stuff I brought?" He simply nods, agreeing.
It's silent for a second. "Can we go again?"
"Of course. I'll play next to you and beat you!"
