I take in a deep breath, looking at my friends. "I'm sorry, but I really just need to get some distance from here. It's nothing against you at all. I just-"
"Dri," Tony laughs. "We understand."
I grab my backpack straps, smile on my face. "Thank you." I decide to do something I haven't done in years. I walk up to Tony and give him a hug. He looks taken aback. He wraps his arms tightly around me. "Thank you," I sniffle.
"Don't go soft on me now, Leeloo."
I laugh again and step out of the hug. I turn to Rhodey. "Bring it in," He holds his arms open. I hug him, helping support his weight in the process.
After a moment, I step back. "I love you guys. When you see any of the others, let them know how much I love them." Rhodes nods.
"Now, don't let the other kids pick on you. Play nice and listen to your teacher," Tony smirks at me.
I laugh, wiping my cheek. "Bye. Heimdall, open the Bifrost!" Nothing happens. "Heimdall?" I nervously laugh and look at the two and look confused as well. "Heimdall, bring me to Asgard. I swear, this never happens. He must be-" Suddenly, I'm surrounded by white light. I'm filled with a rush of happiness when the constellations whoosh past me. I look around in amazement, smile plastered on my face. I land in the beautiful gold room. I see a man I don't recognize. "Who are you?"
"Name's Skurge."
"Eldrid. Where's Heimdall?"
"Betrayed the throne. I'm in charge now."
I eye him suspiciously. "You better pay attention to that thing," I point to the device I have yet to understand. "If I was mid-battle and needed a quick escape, it could mean life or death. Odin is in the castle, as always, I assume?"
"Well, yes, but-"
"Excellent," I teleport to the Throne Room I have always adored. I use my magic to place my bags in my room and put on the long green dress with a gold breastplate. I walk into the room. "My King," I bow before looking at Odin.
When I finally look up, he looks surprised. "Dri. I was not notified of your return. Do you news on the state of Midgard."
I laugh softly. "Actually, no. I'm here to stay." He gives me a questioning look. "It was time I returned home." A smile crosses his face.
"Asgard welcomes you back warmly. Your chambers have been left the same."
"Thank you," I return his smile.
"We will a celebration for your return."
I shake my head and hold my hand. "No, Allfather. I'm fine, seriously."
He shakes his head. "You have fought for my son's, for my people, for everyone. You deserve to be celebrated."
I open my mouth to protest, but I realize it's futile. "Yes, my king." I narrow my eyes at him momentarily, but put my suspicions at rest. I take a deep breath, smile on my face. I bow again. "I'll be see you, Allfather."
I laugh loudly. Volstagg laughs with me. He reaches to put his arm around me in a friendly way. I pull back from his touch. "Please don't," I smile at him. The people around quiets down. The party continues loudly around us.
"Is everything alright, Dri?" I look up at Fandral.
"Yeah... Just, something happened."
"What?" Sif is giving me the same look.
I sigh. "I don't want to talk about it, if that's okay? Let's just say, human's can do some terrible things." I turn back to Volstagg. "I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize for something that is not your fault, Dri."
I nod and grab my drink. I finish the mead. "ANOTHER!" I laugh and throw the cup down. They all do the same. "So, as I was saying. There I was, wide eyed and terrified. And then BAM! Out of nowhere was one of the most amazing men I've ever had the opportunity to meet."
"The artificial man?" Fandral asks.
"His name is Vision. He can go through walls. Anyways, I knew from the start that he was different. He just look at humanity for one second and then decided to protect it. He is brilliant."
"My, Fandral. It sounds like someone is in love. Looks like someone beat you to it."
I laugh. "No, no. Vision is just a friend."
"In that case, may I?" Fandral holds out his hand. I look at the the group of dancing Asgardians.
I take his hand, "So you know, I have no interest in anything other than a dance."
"That's a pity, but a dance it is," He winks at me. He pulls me up and I laugh. The musicians in the room play a mid-tempo song and we begin the very traditional Asgardian dance full of spins and heavy stomps. With our arms extended, but locked together, we spin in a circle. I laugh loudly. I feel eyes on me, so turn to see Odin watching with an odd expression. I smile at him and Fandral pulls me in tightly with a spin. I laugh with a big smile. This is the most I've smiled in a while.
I stir in my sleep. "A-.... Alec, no." I feel a hand touch my wrist so I jump up in my sleep. "Heimdall?" I look at the familiar gold eyes.
"We need to talk."
Hey, guys! Sorry for the short chapter! I wanted to show Dri going home, but I'm so impatient to get to Ragnarok! Hope you enjoyed!
