Rionna only pushes past me to the drawer to get the documents. I, on the other hand, am completely transfixed on the picture of her and Jayce, my true mate, her fiancé. Is this why she never wanted to tell me his name? Because she knew about me all along?

She pulls the photo out of my shaky fingers, placing it back into the top drawer like nothing happened. Her hands grasp the documents she needs and then she stands up to look at me.

"Marie, we need to leave," is all she says when she pulls me by my hand, slipping her fingers into mine. I want to ask her about Jayce but for some reason, the words won't leave my lips. I can't decide if I am unable to speak due to shock or anger. Probably a mixture of both.

When we both got into her car, I remained silent while she drove. It was dark but the lights from this pack shone through the streets and there were just too many cars on the road, until we finally left this pack to the highway. Rionna's phone rung continuously until she switched it off.

Rionna never said a word.

"You've been hiding so much from me. At this point, I won't be surprised if the Alpha you are running from is actually my brother," I say, unable to hold everything in anymore when I look at her ferociously. My eyes protrude from my sockets.

She's completely unfazed, her eyes refusing to meet mine as she keeps them fixed on the road.

"You weren't a jug of honesty yourself, sweetheart. At least you knew my real name. If it were up to you, I'd be the dumbass that thinks you're actually some Marilene Clark. You get what you give. You never gave me honesty, so you should have never expected it from me either. Also, you should actually be grateful to me. I gave you a home for two months with no questions asked as a favour to Jade."

"A favour to Jade or as a penance for Matthew?" I shoot back angrily, my blood bubbling beneath the surface. I

"They're one in the same, Mikayla!" She near yells and for once, I feel a frustration in her voice. Her eyes never leave the road. "What Matthew did to you was wrong. I would have left him too. But Alphas-" she sighs. "They never let you leave. They are under some delusion that they are entitled to their mate or just any woman they fancy. I don't agree with this concept."

"Yet, you are with Jayce. My true mate," her eyes squeeze together now as she swerves on the road suddenly. "Don't try to feed me with any stories that you don't know or something."

"I know u were involved with Jayce but I never knew that you were his mate," she says, the last part more to herself than me. I scoff. I don't believe her. She picks up on that, looking at me now "really, Marie!"

"Next thing is that you're going to tell me that you don't know about Jayce's feral wolf and destructive temper," I mock, rolling my eyes at her.

"What are you talking about?" She questions me, her tone completely disbelieving as it drops low. "Jayce is the sweetest man I have ever met. I have been around alot of bad men, your brother the peak of that bunch and Jayce is definitely not a bad man!"

"At first," I quip.

"You don't know what you're talking about! You broke that man's heart when you left him to become Alpha of your pack and then got involved with Matthew! Jayce was a wreck when I met him and that was your fault. Don't try and tarnish his name! You hurt him so much! You should be grateful that I'm even helping you here!"

Rionna is screaming, obviously angry and not believing me at all. She hits the horn hard in anger and curses when she crushes her hand slightly. I just stare at her, completely lost for words. All the anger seems to be seeping out of my body and for the millionth time this night, I don't know what to feel.
