Chapter 14: The Confrontation

Caroline's P.O.V
Elena must be heartbroken again, I have to go to her, I can't have her go through this again.
I notice Elena walking out of the front door of the boarding house and getting into her car. I speed out un front of the drive-in before she puts the car in gear.
"Going somewhere?" I say as I get out of the car.
Elena gets out of her car and walks in front of me.
"I have to find Elijah."
"You seem to have gotten over the heartbreak a lot easier."
"Caroline, you are my best friend, please respect my choice as I would do for you."
Her words touch my conscience, she's right as a best friend you should respect each other's choices.
"Ok, but I'm coming with you."
"Fine, but I need to speak with him alone."

Tyler's P.O.V
"I won't fail you." I say to the body of Amara, that now harbours the spirit of Cassia.
"You know what to do." Cassia says coldly.
I nod my head in firm obedience. Cassia dismisses me to begin my duty.
I leave the cemetery and take out my phone, I scroll through the co tacts until I find Elena. I wait as her phone is ringing, until she answers.
"Hello." Elena says over the phone.
"Hey Elena, I was wondering if perhaps you'd like to meet me at the woods near the cemetery, alone?"
"Sorry, but I'm a little tied up right now, there's something I need to do."
"Elijah's here." I say with no hesitation.
"Really, oh thank you Tyler, I'll be there soon.
"Thank you." I reply with great joy before hanging up.
Everything's going according to plan.
Elena's P.O.V
Caroline and I arrive at the woodlands, Tyler is just at the edge of the woods; he's going to be unhappy that I didn't come alone but I'm sure he'll be alright with it.
"Tyler, hey." Caroline says quite nervously.
"Hey Care, I thought I told you to come alone."
"I know Tyler but Caroline had to come with me, please understand."
Tyler looks a little distraught but he exhales a small breath:
"I understand." He says.
"Thank you. So where's Elijah?"
"This way." Tyler points us in the direction.
Caroline and I walk ahead of Tyler as he stays behind and walks up from behind us.

Klaus's P.O.V
Rebekah and I approach Elijah, he turns to face us with no shock or surprise on his face.
"I know why you're both here." He says to us.
"Elijah we're here to talk to you, you're going to hear us out." Rebekah says.
Rebekah looks at me after she has spoken expecting me to explain the situation to Elijah.
"Whatever's happened between you and Elena is your problem, you need to fix it." I explain to him.
"Niklaus, I...." Elijah starts to say before Rebekah interrupts.
"She's the best thing that ever happened to you. Nik and I saw you both at the night of the dance."
"She loves you Elijah and you love her, don't lose the part of yourself that she has helped you to find, the part that has found happiness and peace in love."
Elijah is impressed by our explanations, he smiles at us both thankfully:
"I know that, most of the time I feel as though I can't bear to live in a world without her. She changes me a little, which I love but at the same time my love for her reminds me that it may not last and I'll lose her, like I have with every other love that I've had in my life."
"She'll never give up on you." Rebekah states.
A cry in the distance goes off, Rebekah, Elijah and I hear it and we realise that it's Elena and Caroline.
"Let's go." I say without question.

Elena's P.O.V
Tyler bites Caroline in the neck as she screams in pain, I run towards her after Tyler lets her go.
"Caroline, are you ok?"
Caroline places her hand over the bite mark on her neck and groans, she is deep aching pain; and if she doesn't get Klaus's blood, she'll die.
Tyler grabs me by the arm and starts pulling me away.
"Tyler what're you doing? What's wrong with you?"
Tyler doesn't say a word, it's as though he can't hear me. I struggle to break free but Tyler's grip is to strong, it's as though my arm has been immobilised.
As I continue to struggle Tyler's grip eventually breaks, but it wasn't me that broke his hold; it was Klaus.
"What are you doing?" Klaus asks with an angry expression.
Tyler breaks his arm free and knocks Klaus onto his back a few metres away. With Klaus unconscious Tyler attempts to grab me again, only to be grabbed by the neck and restrained by Elijah.
I am reassured by his appearance, he looks at Tyler patronisingly, as though he's about to kill him. I run towards Elijah and place my hand over his extended arm, he looks at me with an expression that looks like he is regretting his actions, he lets Tyler go.
Before I have a chance to speak to Elijah, Tyler attempts to attack us again, the necklace is in my pocket, it's glowing again, I pull it out and hold it to Tyler's chest as a bright gleam pours out of the necklace.
Tyler is himself again, he has no memory of what he was doing, I am thankful to have him back.
"Caroline." I say anxiously.
Rebekah holds Caroline, she is weak and breathing heavily.
"Stay strong Caroline, don't let go." I say to her.
"Caroline." Klaus says looking heartbroken.
He rushes towards Caroline's expiring body, he bites his wrist and holds it to Caroline, she places her moth to the wound and drinks the blood that cures her and reverts her back to her unharmed state.
Caroline and Klaus are only an inch or two from pressing their lips to each other, Klaus kisses her with a tear running from his eye.
The sight of Klaus and Caroline makes me happy, for Caroline and for Klaus; they are happy.
I turn to see if Elijah is behind me, he is not but I see him between two trees in the distance: 'I have to speak to him.'
As I right behind Elijah he turns to face me, I can't think of anything to say, neither can he.
'I should tell him' I think to myself, but I still don't know how.
Elijah moves close to me at his preternatural speed, he puts his hand on top of my hair, I place my palm on top of his hand, I am mesmerised by him that I feel hope that he will return to me, but I have to tell him:
