Jungkook's mother got pregnant with him when she was sixteen after a drunken one night stand with a guy she hadn't met prior to that night and never saw again after that night. When her parents found out that she was pregnant, they kicked her out. She got a job at a bar and lived with her physically abusive boss in his apartment that was on the floor above the bar. She lived with him for seven years with Jungkook until the bank claimed his bar and apartment because he hadn't paid rent for either in months.

Bang Si Hyuk was a friend of his mother's that frequented the bar where she used to work. His mother and Bang Si Hyuk fell in love and he let her and Jungkook move in with him after the bank claimed the apartment where they used to live.

Bang Si Hyuk was certainly not a saint. He was an unemployed and verbally abusive drunk who did nothing but laze around all day drinking, and gambling all night but still, he was better than his mother's ex-boss who was physically abusive towards both him and his mother whenever he was upset which was all the time.

Si Hyuk never liked Jungkook. His verbal abuse was always directed towards him. The only reason he let Jungkook live with him was because he thought that Jungkook and his mother were a package deal.

"Mommy, where are we going?" Ten year old Jungkook asked as he and his mother were walking down a sidewalk holding each other's hands. "On an adventure" His mother replied as she stopped at a crosswalk and waited for the pedestrian crossing sign to turn green indicating that they could cross.

"Then why do I have my suitcase?" Jungkook asked as he clutched tighter onto the handle of his suitcase he had been rolling around since they left their house.

"Because it's your adventure." His mother replied which made Jungkook frown. "What about you and uncle Si Hyuk, aren't you coming along?" Jungkook asked, pouting. His mother ignored his question saying "oh it's green. Let's cross." They crossed the sidewalk and stopped at a bus stop on the opposite side which was in front of a small convenience store.

"Jungkook, wait right here. I'll go get uncle Si Hyuk and we can go on the adventure together okay?" His mother said as a bus pulled up at the bus stop.

"Let me come with you" Jungkook said. He was feeling really uneasy about all of this. Something felt wrong, as if something bad was about to happen.

"Don't be silly. I'll be right back okay? Plus, I only have enough money for one person to ride the bus." His mother said and Jungkook hesitated for a while before saying, "come back quickly, okay?" And his mother nodded her head.

She then got on the bus and Jungkook sat on the bench by the bus stop as he watched the bus drive away.

Seconds became minutes and minutes became hours yet his mother still hadn't come back for him.

It was now dark out and the only things illuminating the night were the stars, the moon, and the streetlights.

Jungkook sighed as the last bus for the night pulled up but his mother was nowhere to be seen.

That was when Jungkook realized that his mother didn't have her suitcase with her. He was the only one with a suitcase.

Realization hit Jungkook like a brick. He realized that his mother wasn't coming back for him.

She had left him to go start a new life with her lover Bang Si Hyuk.

He knew his mother didn't care about him, he'd known that since as long as he could remember. She was always out late drinking or gambling or partying and she never bothered about his well being. She never cared about whether or not he had eaten, or was doing well in school, or was getting bullied. The only reason she had kept him around was because she needed his help shoplifting. She would always ask him to create a distraction while she steals some things from a store. Those were also the only times she was nice to him.

Apart from that, he was always left to fend for himself. He'd eat whatever was in the fridge because she never cooked for him. She never bought him school supplies claiming that she didn't have money for them but his teacher was always nice enough to use her own money to buy him the needed materials. The only new clothes he had were shoplifted. His mother never cared about him maternally, financially, or otherwise. He knew that, he did, but he always thought that even at that, she'd always be there for him because she was his mother.

He couldn't have been more wrong.
