You woke to the smell of sweet pancakes wafting into the room, you sat up immediately with a smile on your face; you'd always loved pancakes. Then you realised where you were and the memories came rushing back, and the smile fell immediately from your face. Your whole body ached as you made your way down the long staircase, each muscle screaming for rest. But no aching compared to the one in your heart. You missed Sarah, but you also hated the thought of her. Something you were sure you'd never feel, for your love for her was always so very strong.

"She came to me last night, and she was distraught! What were you thinking?!"

You heard Cates hushed voice as she spoke on the phone, she hadn't noticed you yet and you were glad because you had the feeling that you wouldn't like to know who was on the other line.

"No you can't come here Sarah, you have to give her space"

Your breathing rate picked up at the sound of her name. Cate turned to you, startled, as she heard your brief gasp for air behind her.

"Look I have to go, don't do anything stupid"

You took a place at the kitchen island on a bar stool and tried to smile kindly at the woman in front of you.

"I made pancakes"

"I'm not really hungry-" Your built up appetite created from the mere smell, had disappeared as soon as you had heard the phone call.

"You have to eat y/n"

"Is it ok if I take a shower? I'd like to get home soon, back to my apartment I mean"

You felt Cates hand on yours, offering some kind of stability.

"Of course love, I'll keep your pancakes warm so don't take too long"

Your phone rang as you finished getting dressed in last nights clothes. You couldn't ignore her forever, and as angry as you were, you truly missed the sound of her voice.

"Y/n?! I'm so sorry, I love you-"

"What do you want Sarah"

Your voice was strong, which surprised you, but it was still raspy from last night's crying spree.

"I need to explain-"

"There's nothing to explain Sarah, I saw what happened. You knew how I felt about her and you dismissed my feelings like they were nothing. You've hurt me and I don't know if I can forgive you for this..."

You were so tired of the same thoughts running wild in your head. She's probably with Holland now, trying to keep you sweet, a cover up story for her and the older woman. You felt sick.

"Y/n... please"

You could hear the crack in her voice and you so badly wanted to forgive her and hold her and tell her everything was ok. But then you remember what had happened. You felt betrayed, sad and honestly a little embarrassed that you had found yourself at Cates. You should be used to being hurt by those closest to you, for that was what had happened your whole life- first your mother, then your other childhood bestfriend. You only had b/f and Sarah keeping you sane; and now Sarah had done the same as everyone else. Not matter how much you should be used to this, it still teared you apart.

"Goodbye Sarah. Maybe I'll see you at work, I'll have to talk to Ryan, I don't know if I want to work with you anymore..."

You were harsh but honest.

"Please"

You hung up at the sound of her crying. You couldn't listen to it. You knew if you did, you'd forgive her straight away.
