(Summer's POV)

Now for the loudest part of the day - lunch. I grabbed my money from my locker and ran to meet Isabel in our usual spot.

"Ready?" I asked, acting like we were about to enter a nuclear war zone.

"Ready." She nodded her head. We walked in and got in line for lunch. I looked around. There were kids from all different grades, some of whom I knew, and some that I didn't. I saw a lot of kids from last year and some new ones. But then I saw Shawn. Alexia wasn't with him so I supposed that she either wasn't eating in the cafeteria or didn't have this lunch shift, but his friends Brian, Matt, and Jack were. I still couldn't believe my locker was next to his. I was going to embarrass myself so bad this year. I turned back around so that he didn't catch me looking and ordered my food. Then, Isabel and I grabbed our trays and went to go sit with Tyler and the rest of our friends - Joshua, Abby, and Nikita, or Nikki.

"Hi guys!" I exclaimed. I hadn't seen them all summer.

"Hey!" Abby and Nikki got up and gave us hugs. "Oh my gosh, how was camp?" Abby asked, in her usual smiley energetic self.

"Eh. Okay," I answered. What I didn't tell them was that there was a new kid at camp this year. Actually, the only one I had ever told about my crush on Shawn was Isabel. He was actually the only crush I'd ever had. Now you can see why it was so painful for me that he didn't even know my name. I turned around, and found Shawn in the crowd, but to my surprise he was looking back at me. For a minute I just stood there in shock, both of us staring into each other's eyes, until Abby snapped me out of it.

"Hey Summer, you good? You seem really distracted."

"Yeah I'm fine. Sorry," I glanced back one more time, but Shawn was talking with his friends. I probably just imagined it.

"So, we were just talking about the new schedule this year. Did you know that we have mixed grades study hall? And that means that I could have study hall with Jack Ryan," Abby said dreamily. I rolled my eyes. She always had a crush on someone, even though it changed like every week.

"Hey actually, I have study hall next period. What about you guys?" I asked them.

"Study hall! Yass queen!" Isabel said. We high-fived.

"Math," Joshua and Nikki said at the same time.

"Science," Abby smiled. She liked science. No, she liked everything.

"Gym," Tyler scowled. "Come to think of it, we should probably get going before the stampede." He added. We all grabbed our empty lunch trays and left the cafeteria. I forced myself not to look over when we walked by Shawn's table. We all separated and wished each other luck at the stairs. Isabel went with me to my locker because our study hall class was upstairs. Once I was done we went up to her locker and got her stuff, then rushed to Mr. Moore's classroom. We were first so we got to pick our seats. We went to the side of the room near the windows, sat down next to each other, and got out our homework. Study hall was actually my hero sometimes. If I didn't get some of my homework done then, I'd be up till midnight doing it all. After a minute of peace and quiet, the other students started to pile in.
