(Summer's POV)

"Mom drive faster! We're gonna be late!" I leaned forward in anticipation.

"I'm going as fast as I can without breaking every speed limit in town! Calm down! We're going to be early!" She assured me. I sat back in my seat. We pulled up to the school and I jumped out of the car.

"C'mon Izzy," I got our stuff out of the back and handed her her bag. I started running towards the buses.

"Alright, alright, I'm coming!" She ran after me. We checked in with Mrs. Dean, then got on the bus. We found a seat near the front, me sitting in the isle and Isabel next to the window. The ride wasn't that long, only an hour, so me and Isabel talked most of the time, occasionally playing on our phones (yes we could bring phones). When we arrived at the campgrounds, me and Isabel sat up, alert. Miss Hale, at the front of the bus, stood up and waited till we were all quiet.

"All right, so I'm going to give you your cabin assignments. Cabin 1: Jake, Matt, Jack, Henry, Maria, Alexia, Ryan, and Alesha. You guys are with me. Cabin 2: Brian, Jack, Shawn, Allen..." I crossed my fingers and hoped that I wouldn't be called. "...Nicki, Abby, Isabel, Summer. You're with Mr. Silvers. Cabin 3..." I sighed and Isabel squealed. "Those three cabins I just called are getting off here. Everyone else, you are staying on the bus." Miss Hale stood to the side to let the students pass before getting off the bus herself. Once we were all out, they started giving us our bags. I saw Shawn with his friends and quickly looked away, trying to avoid his gaze. Too late. He jogged over to me and Isabel.

"Hey Shawn! Did you hear that we're in the same cabin?" Isabel exclaimed.

"Yeah! Pretty cool right?" Shawn nodded at Isabel. The teacher handed us our stuff. "Here, c'mon over here," Shawn gestured us towards his friends, so we grabbed Nicki and Abby. Once we got to them he pointed at them one by one.

"So, guys, this is Jack and Allen. Jack, Allen, this is my friend Summer.." Ouch. There was that word again. Friend. I don't think I could handle hearing that one more time. "... who you probably already know.." I smiled at them. "...and Isabel, Nicki, and Abby. And you guys already know Brian." I looked at Isabel. She looked right back at me.

"I'll go find Mr Silvers," I volunteered, wanting to get away from the awkwardness. Once I found him in the crowd, I dragged him back to our little group.

"Okay guys, ready to go to our cabin?" Mr. Silvers hoisted his big backpack over his shoulders. We all nodded and followed him down the path. I heard the bus drive away in the distance. Alright. This is actually happening.

"Can you guys believe we're in the same cabin as the senior boys?" Nicki whispered.

"And Jack Ryan!" Abby squealed. We were walking a little behind the boys.

"No, I can't believe it," I looked over at Isabel accusingly. "I wonder how it happened." After about 10 minutes of walking and listening to Nicki and Isabel and Abby talk about how excited they were, we got to the cabin. It was a cute little building, with two doors in the front and a pointed roof. Mr. Silvers directed the girls in one door and the boys in the other. Inside, their was one big room divided in half by a large, opaque blue curtain. I say opaque because you could still see silhouettes through it. Each side had three bunk beds lined up next to each other, and a door opposite the front door that opened into a bathroom. Me and Isabel took the bunk near the window and Nicki and Abby the one on the other side. We all threw our stuff into the one in the middle. Isabel called the top bunk but I didn't care, I liked the bottom. Mr Silvers opened the curtain and said he would close it when we got back from dinner. We all unpacked and talked a little, then Mr. Silvers said: "Everybody get their shoes back on! Time for dinner!" And off we went again, down the path, until we reached a long, open building with a lot of windows.

"Must be the dining hall," I murmured to Isabel. We stopped outside and Mr. Silvers started talking to us.

"You guys are lucky you got a say in your cabin, because you will do everything with them. Hike, eat, sleep, travel. We're going to go in, and since we are Cabin 2, we sit at Table 2." I groaned inside my head and could feel Isabels eyes burning into the side of my head. What was she planning?

Mr Silvers led us through the doors and into a big room with large circular tables everywhere. We found Table 2 and took our seats. Isabel "accidentally" pushed me into the chair between her and Shawn. Dinner was interesting. The counselors all introduced themselves. They all seemed pretty weird. I could already tell that I liked it there. We ate, and the food wasn't actually that bad. There was even desert! Once dinner and all the introduction activities were over, we walked back to the cabin and played games until Mr. Silvers closed the curtain and we had to go to bed. The day wasn't actually as bad as I thought.
