(Shawn's POV)

I watched Summer walk away with Isabel. I waited until she was around the corner before getting in my car and driving home. It felt strange by having her in the car with me. We would drive home together everyday, her sitting in the passenger seat, and me driving. As I reached over to turn on the radio, I suddenly remembered the day after we had heard about the trip, and me and Summer were driving to the diner after school...

"I love this song!" Summer gasped. She reached over and turned up the volume to "Love Story" by Taylor Swift. I glanced over at her, smiling. She started singing, or more like a combination of singing and laughing. "...and pulled out a ring and said, marry me Juliet you never have to be alone..."

I joined in, laughing "...I love you and that's all I really know!" We looked at each other and shouted/sang the rest of the song. "...I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress! It's a love story, baby just say yes!" I pulled into Millie's parking lot and Summer finished the song: "...cause we were both young, when I first saw you." She was laughing as she got out of the car. I noticed how beautiful her smile was, and her laugh. I stood watching her as she walked up the steps and stopped to catch her breath from laughing. "Are you coming?" She asked, holding the door. I snapped out of my thoughts and walked in after her.

I had quickly forgotten about that moment until now. I hated myself for being the one who made that wonderful laugh go away.

About a half an hour after school ended, I was sitting on my couch nervously, and heard a knock on the door. I felt butterflies in my stomach. Actually they felt more like lions. What was I going to say? I probably shouldn't mention what happened last weekend. That might not go well. No. I was going to act like nothing had changed. Maybe it wouldn't be so uncomfortable then. I opened the door, and Summer was standing there, like I expected, carrying her backpack. Her eyebrows were scrunched together in a serious expression, like she does when she's thinking. I wondered what she was thinking about.

"Come on in," I stepped back and gestured her inside. She walked in and stood there nervously. C'mon Shawn, you can do this. Fix your mistake. "Umm, do you want some tea? My mom just bought your favorite, peppermint."

"Oh, sure, thanks," she nodded and I ran into the kitchen. I fumbled with the water kettle and almost dropped the mug. What was wrong with me? Once they were ready, I went to carry the two mugs of tea out to the living room, but before I walked in, I heard Summer and Aaliyah talking.
