(Summer's POV)

His two strong arms wrapped around me. My heartbeat accelerated and I looked up at him nervously. He put this hand on my face and just looked into my eyes for a moment. He slowly started to lean in, me doing the same..

"Summer, wake up! We're going to be late for school!"

"How do you wake up so early?" I groaned and frowned, realizing that I had been dreaming. I felt a sharp glimmer of longing and pain in my heart. If only what happened in my dreams would happen when I was awake.

"I guess it's just in my blood," my best friend shrugged her shoulders.

I slowly got up and stretched, but continued to glare at Isabel, who was sitting at the end of the bed. She had slept over last night, the last night of summer, and that meant that today was the first day of school. Why did school have to start so early? It wasn't fair! I didn't mind school, actually I kind of liked it (but I think that was just because I had straight A's), but having to wake up at 6:00 everyday is not fun. I picked up my dress that I had picked out especially for today and went into the bathroom to get ready. I washed my face and brushed my teeth and hair before putting my dress on. Then I went back into my room, and looked at Isabel pleadingly. "Can you do my hair?"

She gestured for me to sit down in the floor in front of her. "I think a braid into a high bun would look best with this outfit," she mused.

"Whatever you say," I answered. Isabel was great at hair and fashion, so I usually let her style me. I obediently sat while she went to get her rubber bands and whatever else she used. Once she sat back down she smiled mischievously.

"So, you excited to see anyone after summer?"

"What do you mean?" I asked, even though I was pretty sure I knew what she meant.

"Oh, you know, maybe just a certain senior that you've been crushing on since 7th grade," she rolled her eyes at my look of innocence.

"I don't know what you're taking about," I answered stubbornly. But I did know. What she didn't know though, was that I had seen him this summer, I just wasn't sure if he saw me.

"Shawn!" She yelled exasperated. "Summer you need to talk to him!"

"I can't, okay? He has a girlfriend anyway. And if you think I'm going to mess with Alexia you're crazy. Ow!" Isabel had tugged my hair harder than she needed to. "What was that for?"

"You know what that was for! I am not going to let you go a another year walking down the east hallway just to see him at his locker, crying every time you see him and Alexia kiss, and not even saying a word to him! Just you watch!"

"Go ahead," I sighed, a little worried about what was running through Isabel's mind right now. When she wanted something, she always took it upon herself to get it, no matter what the costs.

"Done!" Isabel sat up and looked at me approvingly. "You look amazing!"

I looked in the mirror. I said thank you to Isabel but I didn't really believe her. "Wow though, the hair looks great! Thanks! Do you want me to do yours?" I joked.

Isabel laughed. "We should go eat. Grab your bag, come on," she ran down the stairs. I took my backpack and ran after her.

So this is the first chapter of "It Started With a Song"! I know it's not the most exciting chapter, it's is kind of just supposed to introduce you to Summer, so I hope you keep reading! Please vote and comment if you have anything to say or suggest, and I'll try to update as much as I can!

Thank you soooo much!
