Pairing: Connor Kenway
Warning: none
Note: N/A
Requested by: no oneY/n ran for her life. Behind her is some cart escorts that want to shove her in a cart filled with other orphans like her to take them to the orphanage. She's been there once and she hated it. Everyone there is so mean! And cruel!
Y/n rounded a corner then skidded to a stop and ran back then stopped again. She found herself in an alleyway with both exits blocked by the cart escorts.
"All right, kid," one of them started, "Enough with the games and runnin' 'round. You're coming with us." An escort grabbed Y/n's arm tightly and dragged her out of the alleyway.
Y/n clawed at the hand, trying to free herself. She found herself thrown over the escort's broad shoulder, unable to move an inch from the tight grip he had on her.
"No! No! No! Not the orphanage!" Y/n cried out, struggling to escape.
The escort wrestled Y/n inside the cart, he was about to chain her when she was able to scratch his face then made a run for it. Despite her legs and lungs burning, she didn't dare stop. She immediately circled around the first stranger she found. She clung onto his trousers, desperate for protection from him.
The hooded stranger looked down at Y/n in confusion, he looked back up when he heard the pounding footsteps.
"Hand 'er over, ya redskin bastard." One of the escorts demanded.
"Why?" The hooded stranger replied, "She's done nothing wrong."
"She's heading to the orphanage, that's why." The escort sneered.
The stranger looked down at Y/n, she immediately shook her head as "no" and tightened her grip on his leg.
"I am afraid not gentlemen."
~time skip~
Y/n kept her arms tightly around Connor's neck, he hid her away in a haycart and told her to stay there until he came back. When he did, he's covered in blood. He told her that it wasn't his and carried her to safety.
A large house came into view, he climbed up the steps and opened the front door.
"Connor," an old man greeted, "Who is the child?" Connor looked at Y/n then back at the old man.
"An orphan, some escorts were trying to take her to the orphanage with force." Y/n shuddered, burying her face in Connor's warm and comforting neck.
Connor carried Y/n to his bedroom, he placed her down on the bed and leaves then returns with a bowl of warm water and a rag. He started to clean her face, wiping away the years of grime and dirt.
"Look at you," Connor murmured, taking Y/n's small hands in his and examined them, "Scars and cuts and bruises at a young age. Have you been fighting for your survival?" Y/n nodded.
Connor kissed her hand then her palms and her fingertips.
"Never again." He swore.
~two years later~
Y/n eagerly followed Myriam and Connor through the woods with her small bow in hand. For the past two years, Y/n has been following Connor around like a puppy; she saw the Native as a father and continued to see him it. Achilles pointed it out to Connor and Connor brushed it off, he replied saying that Y/n is only following him because he saved her from the streets and the orphanage.
"'niha, are we there yet?" Y/n asked, pouting.
Connor froze, not expecting the child to call him "father" in his own language. He turned to face Y/n.
"Where did you learn that?"
"What? 'niha? I learned it from the village you took me."
The sudden realization struck Connor, he didn't think his people would see the child as his daughter. He thought they'd see her as a student, a protegee, an apprentice.
"'niha? Connor? Did I say something bad? I'm sorry." Y/n looked down at her feet and sniffled, thinking she had made a mistake.
Connor tipped her chin up.
"You've done nothing wrong, eksa'a."
