"So, granddaughter. Care to explain?" Haytham arched a brow at the colonel.

The colonel closed the door to the child's now bedroom and turned to face the Grandmaster and Irishman.

"Almost thirty years ago, I took in an orphaned little girl from the streets. I raised her, I cared for her, and I acted as her father. When I believed she was old enough, I allowed her to find her own love instead of finding one for her. One day, she disappeared without a trace with only a single note. "I know what you did and I won't forgive you for it". That is all the note said I never heard from her again."

"And now your granddaughter portrays as the spy for the assassins," Haytham concluded. "Perhaps this can turn the tides."

"I will not allow her to spy," George protested. "She's only eight!"

"And yet the assassins sent her out as a spy," Haytham argued back.

"May I remind you both that the assassins are most likely looking for her," Shay interrupted. "It's best we discuss this when she wakes up from her nap."

Y/n pulled away from the door, pulling her hood over her head. She opened the window and looked over to the door. She didn't want to leave, especially her grandfather. She just learned he's still alive but he's a Templar and she's an assassin.

Y/n sighed and jumped out of the window. She hit the ground with a thump and started to run.

"Y/n?!" Liam saw a small figure running up the steps of the homestead.

He caught Y/n's small form, hugging her tightly in his arms. He picked her up from the ground and carried her back inside.

"You scared me when you didn't meet at the rendezvous point," said Liam, pulling her hood off. "I thought something happened to you."

Y/n wrapped her around her father's neck, hugging him tightly.

"Love you, Daddy."

Liam kissed her forehead.

"Love you more, Y/n. I love you more."

Liam carried Y/n up the stairs and into the bedroom.

"Daddy, will you talk about Mummy?" Liam tensed at Y/n's question.

He knew she would want to know in eventually. Just thinking about his wife makes him grimace at the memory.

"Why the suddenness?" Y/n looked down at the floor, kicking at it.

"Just curious," Y/n mumbled. "Connor has a mummy and a daddy. Why don't I have one?"

Liam gently grasped her shoulders, kneeling in front of her.

"Y/n, your mother.....she was an amazing woman. You certainly do remind me of her in so many ways. Your mother lost her life at the hands of a Templar, Y/n. By the Grandmaster of England. It was supposed to be a simple task, spying like you are doing now."

"Then why didn't you tell me Mummy was a Templar too?"

Liam choked.

"Wha-where did yo-?"

"I met Grandfather this evening and he told me he raised Mummy! You liar! You lied to me! You told me Mummy has always been an assassin!"

"Y/n, your mother didn't even know her father was a Templar until I told her what I do for a living! She didn't know anything about the Templar Order."

Y/n stared at the floor and Liam tilted her chin up.

"What else did he say to you? What did he tell you about your mother?"

"........I'm not telling."

"Y/n, I am your father and concerns me as much as it concerns your mother."

"She's dead! Dead! How does it concern a dead woman?!"

"Y/n!"

"I hate you! I hate you! I hate you and Achilles! I hate you!"

Liam caught Y/n's swinging fists, pulling her close to him. Y/n's muffled screaming and crying slowly came to a stop. Liam got up from the floor and tucked her into bed after taking off her robes and boots.

"We heard it all the way down here," said Hope. "Liam, it wasn't your fault that Catherine got caught. You can't blame yourself for that."

"And yet Y/n claims she hates me."

"For another reason, Liam. She blames you because Catherine was the ward of Colonel Monro. You were right, though. Catherine didn't know Monro was part of the Templar Order."

Liam sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Catherine and I always talked about going back to Ireland, live with my mother on the farm. It certainly wouldn't be an easy life but it would've been better than killing people."

"And it seems that your daughter has inherited her mother's past," said Achilles, holding a note in hand. "She's gone, Liam. She is a traitor now, not your daughter."

Y/n rested her head on Monro's shoulder. Shay found her running through the streets of New York two days after she abandoned the assassins and brought her to the safety of Monro's estate.

Dressed in a navy blue dress with white lace, Y/n found herself in the safety of her grandfather's comforting embrace.

"Go to sleep," Monro patted Y/n's back. "Go to sleep." Y/n readjusted in Monro's lap and yawned.

Monro smiled and Y/n drifted off to dreamland.

Now that Y/n has defected to the Templars, she has a target on her back despite being a child. If caught, perhaps she will have mercy. If it is her father that catches her.

Monro made it very clear she will not be running around as a spy for the Templars, not until she's older. Perhaps her looks as a young lady will make it difficult for assassins to detect her without Eagle Vision. For now, she will be his beloved granddaughter, living and treated like a princess she is.
