Pairing: Haytham Kenway ft Hickey and Charles
Warning: some angst
Note: again, I suck at Cockney accents so Hickey will be a bit OOC.
Requested by: IOwnHellAt first, Y/n didn't look much like her parents, which Haytham brushed off.
She'll grow into it he thought.
At four, Haytham noticed something. She looked oddly familiar to someone. He brushed it off again.
At seven-years-old, he finally figured it out.
It was shortly after his wife's funeral when he saw the similarities.
His daughter looked more like his father than him.
Oh, how much it hurt to look at his daughter and end up seeing his father instead.
"Father, are you alright?" Y/n asked.
Haytham, sitting behind his desk, eyes glazing over, was startled.
"Dear, I thought I told you not to do that."
"Sorry, a force of habit," Y/n explained. "But are you alright? You seemed to be lost in thought."
Haytham sighed, his eyes examining Y/n from top to bottom. Yes, she's inherited some of her mother's features but not enough to avoid the Kenway genetics.
Haytham sighed before getting up.
"Why don't we take a walk around Boston? I'm sure both of us could use a break." Y/n beamed and eagerly nodded.
"Okay!"
Skipping out of the room, Haytham watched her leave.
Dear God, why did you have to give her those features?
"Y/n?"
Looking around the empty estate, Haytham frowned in confusion. For the past year, she hasn't been coming home lately and it's causing him to worry.
"Perhaps she's gone down to Boston. She said something about making some friends there."
Making his way through Boston, he stopped by the harbor to see Charles and Hickey.
"Oi, Haytham. Thought I've seen your little girl at the harbor," said Hickey. "Ain't alone either. Got a couple hooligans following her lead around in the harbor."
"Where exactly did you see her?"
Following Hickey's lead, Hickey guided Haytham and Charles to the harbor.
"There she is. On top o' that ship." Hickey nodded at a ship.
Standing at the helm was indeed Y/n. Shoulders back, pistol and navy sword at her hip, she's sending out orders.
"Sir?" Charles quietly questioned.
"Return to your duties, Charles. Allow me to deal with her."
Boarding the ship, Haytham approached Y/n.
"So, this is where you've been?" Y/n blinked and gave him a smile.
"Well, yeah," she said. "You told me Grandfather was a sailor so why can't I?"
"Y/n."
"Hm?"
"You can't."
"Why the hell not?"
"I did not raise you to be a sailor or swear!"
"So what? I'm a breeding tool to be married off to some rich bloke and be a pretty trophy for him?"
Voices started to whisper and people started to stare. Haytham grabbed Y/n's arm and dragged her inside the cabin.
"Y/n, listen to me."
"I am listening to you and I don't appreciate it!"
Haytham sighed.
"Y/n!"
"What?"
"You can go out to sea," Y/n blinked at him.
"What?"
"You can go out to sea," Haytham repeated. "But you need to come home whenever you can. Write to me if you can't come home."
"I-I think I can do that."
"Sir, are you sure you should let her go out on her own?" Charles questioned. "Surely allowing your daughter to on her own is dangerous and reckless."
Haytham shakes his head.
"Sometimes, Charles," Haytham said. "It's best to let your child go."
Just remembered that commissions are still open!
