Desmond chuckled at Shaun's shout. Standing in front of the historian was Y/n. She snuck up on him when he wasn't paying attention and ended up scaring Shaun.
"She's really light on her feet," Rebecca commented. "Like an assassin."
Desmond shot Rebecca a look, letting Y/n walk over to him. She climbed to his lap, plopping down and turning her back to the world.
Not comfortable enough, Y/n pulled the end of Desmond's hoodie over her head.
"Happy?" Desmond chuckled, watching Y/n poke her out through the hole.
"Mhm." Y/n hummed, snuggling against him again.
"Goodnight, kiddo."
"Oh, for goodness sake! Stop!"
Y/n looked up at Shaun, blinking at him. She had three books in her arms that her grandfather asked her to deliver to Shaun. What's so bad about it?
"Shaun, she's just bringing you books from William," said Rebecca. "C'mon. Be nice to the kid! She's too cute to be mad at!"
Y/n held the books out to Shaun.
"Whatever." Shaun muttered, turning his back to her.
The clattering of books caught Shaun's attention causing him to turn around again.
"Oh, bloody hell. She's like a wraith!"
Dragging a small piece of chalk on the ground, Y/n tossed it to the side.A game of hopscotch.
Since she has nothing to do, Desmond decided to introduce her to a physical activity to keep her busy with. Sure, she'll get bored of it soon but she's still doing something.
Hop, hop, hop.
Three spaces forward.
Throw the piece of chalk forward.
Hop, hop.
Pick up the piece of chalk and throw it again.
"That's so sad," Rebecca commented, watching Y/n play hopscotch by herself.
"At least she's not annoying anyone," Shaun muttered.
"Yeah, but still." Rebecca said.
Bored already, Y/n stopped playing hopscotch.
Pitter, patter.
Quiet footsteps rushed up to the Animus. Climbing it, Y/n crawled over to sit on her father's lap.
"Aw. You miss your dad?" Rebecca cooed, reaching over to ruffle Y/n's hair. "Don't worry. He'll be out of there soon, okay?"
Y/n nodded, laying down on Desmond's chest with a sigh.
Hop, hop.
Y/n was playing hopscotch again.
This time; however, she was alone.
Completely alone.
No Shaun, no Rebecca, no William, and certainly no Desmond.
Locked away in a small white room with a sign on the wall adjacent from her said:
Abstergo.
And so, she chose to pass the time with a game of hopscotch.
