"Morgan!" I hear Tyler say. My eyes focus back in on the light brown haired boy in front of me."I'm sorry, I have a lot of stress at work so I'm not fully mentally here. I am so sorry." I keep apologizing.
He reaches over the dinner table grabbing my hand. We ended up going to a fancy restaurant and the food is amazing. Tyler ordered for me because I had no idea what to get. I never go out on dates or go to fancy restaurants. "It's okay, would you like to talk about it?"
I shake my head. "No, I want to focus on this date and you and how amazing you are. So please, continue what you were saying." I give him a weak smile. I feel bad that I was completely zoned out, but my mind has been in other places.
He smiles widely at me. "I was just saying how beautiful you look tonight."
I bite my lip, suppressing a smile that is creeping onto my lips. "Thank you." I blush and look down at my plate, avoiding eye contact.
"So I know you work in a big company, what do you do?"
I laugh a little. "Do you have all night?" I joke.
He winks, "I have all the time you need."
"Simple answer, I work with computers. Maybe on the next date I can tell you the complicated answer." I say without thinking.
He raises an eyebrow, "That means there is going to be a second date?"
I shake my head in joking disbelief, "If you play your cards right, there might be."
"Alright, well I have been known to be good at poker."
"That was an awful joke." I throw my head back in laughter.
He holds his hands up in defense. "Sorry, it sounded so much better in my head."
After laughing about that and other things, the date ended. I found out he has two younger sisters and an older brother. He works as a lawyer at a small firm, but is one of the top lawyers there, bound to make partner soon. If I'm being honest, he's a little old for me. He's 29 so that makes him seven years my senior. Usually I'm not bothered by this sort of thing, but if I'm honest, something else has been in the back of my mind all night. Well, someone else.
Tyler parks his car outside of my apartment and gets out with me. "Would you like me to walk you up to your apartment?"
I shake my head. "No, thank you though. I had a great time." I tell him with a genuine smile.
"You're welcome. I had a great time. I'm sorry you're stressed out with work. Hopefully, on our next date," he gives me a quick wink, "you can be a little more present." He says with a smile. Some people would be offended, but I'm not. I know I wasn't all there tonight and I feel bad for him.
I shrug. "I might have a way to make it up to you?" I say more as a question than a statement.
"And how would that be?"
I take a step closer to him, leaning up and pressing my lips to his He's not as tall as Harry so it's not as far of a reach up. I feel Tyler smile into the kiss, making me do the same in return. The kiss is nice, but cut short by me pulling away "I hope that helped apologize?" I bit my bottom lip. "And next time, I promise to be more focused." I wink and turn away, leaving him with those words.
By the time I get up to my room, I am going through all sorts of emotions. It was due to contemplating the whole day on my short travel back to my apartment. I'm mad that Harry was on my mind all dinner because Tyler is such a nice guy and honestly a good fit for me. I am happy that the date went with Tyler considering it was my first real date since I got to London around 4 years ago. I am upset that the kiss did nothing for me like Harry's did. And most of all I'm pissed at myself because I have such a great guy wanting a second date with me but all I can think about is Harry. What is wrong with me? I barely know him. We only properly met a week and a half ago.
