-Dustin West-
Monday morning soon came and the week had officially began. I had begun to feel guilty at the fact that I had been hiding this huge secret from Harley, whom I tell everything to. What's worse is that if my parent found out, they'd probably kill me but I knew I had to tell them sooner or later. Question was when was the correct time to tell them? I knew my parents would be mad at first but then they'd forgive me and accept the fact that I'm going to be a father. I was mostly scared about telling Harley. I had never kept a secret from Harley and this one was a really big one.
I had a shower and got changed, ready for the school day. As I showered I had decided that today was the day I'm going to tell my parents and Harley. Once I'm ready I head downstairs and find Lizzy sitting at the table eating a yogurt. She was already 4 months pregnant and therefore there was a bump showing. She had only told us she pregnant 3 weeks ago and it shocked me to see how much her bump has grown. Had I found myself being excited to be a father?
"Lizzy. We need to talk...about the baby." Her eyes dart in my direction. "I'm going to tell my parents and Harley that the baby is mine and I'm going to tell them today." Her facial expression changed within a second and you could clearly tell she was worried.
"What?! No, y-you can't. I'm not ready to tell them." She says in shock.
"You might've kept secrets from your family before but I have never kept a secret this big from my parents. In fact, I haven't kept any secret from Harley and this is killing me." Her eyes start to tear up. She knew that I had to tell her sooner or later.
I hate keeping secrets from the people I love, especially big secrets like this. She might've not been ready but I sure as hell am.
"Dustin. You can't tell them today. Give me one more week and then we will tell them, I promise."
"I'll give you two more days and not a minute more." She sighs a sigh of relief. I knew that she was scared to tell because Harley hates her guts.
Harley came into the kitchen with Ryder and my dad. Ryder and my dad were talking about what they usually talk about which just so happens to be about Ryder's curiosity about my fathers gang, the Lions. Harley was scrolling away on her phone, probably on Instagram. Lizzy quickly started going through the fridge, finding something else to eat whilst I pretended to read some magazine that was on the counter.
"Are you ready to go to school?" My dad asks me.
"Yeah. I'm just waiting for Tom. He's supposed to be here in 3 minutes." I say. My dad hums in response before looking at me.
"In all the years you've been alive I've never seen you read anything. So what are you hiding, son?" Damnit. Maybe picking up a magazine and pretending to read wasn't the best thing to do if I'm trying to act nonchalant.
"...nothing..." I breathe out. Just two more days, Dustin, and then you can tell your family who is the actual father of the baby. Also, why the hell is there so much drama in this family. There's never one normal day.
"...liar..." Harley says in between a smirk. "You're hiding something and I'm going to find out what it is." Determination clouded her eyes which made me wonder if I could make these two days without telling or caving in to her. Ryder looked at Harley with an eyebrow raised probably sure that she will find out.
Two days, Dustin, two days...that's all. I looked over at Lizzy. Her green eyes burned mine as we both looked at each other with worry. She tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear and looked down to the ground, breaking our eye contact. A slight tint of rose covered her cheeks as she looked at me through her lashes.
"Seriously, if you two don't stop eyeing each other imma puke." Ryder says, laughing as he grabbed an apple from the counter.
Harleys eyes widened. "Are you two dating?!"
"No!" Both Lizzy and I say at the same time, suspiciously quick.
Harleys eyebrow raises as she scoffs. "Just admit it, no one is going to kill you if you two are secretly doing it. I mean we probably will have to start questioning if the baby is actually yours, Dustin, but we won't kill you. Can't say the same thing for mom though." Her face stays serious as everyone goes quiet for a minute before she starts laughing.
"Tough crowd, huh? I was just joking....mom won't actually kill you." She smiles before turning on her heel and leaving the kitchen.
My heart was beating so fast I could've sworn it was trying to rip out of my chest. I'm pretty sure Lizzy was feeling the exact same because she let out a huge sigh of relief.
Harley doesn't know how right she was....
