Millie
-

"What?" I laughed.

"Marry me."

"Shawn, you can't be serious right now."

"I am as serious as a person can get."

"You're leaving for months and you're asking me to marry you, right now?"

"Is that not good?" He became worried.

"No, I mean yes. It's good, but you're leaving."

"So, is that a no?"

"No it's a yes, you dumby!" I laughed and kissed him.

The next morning was hard. Shawn gave me the ring we had when we first got engaged after the baby scandal. We had breakfast and then he was off. I dropped him off at the airport and he was gone. I drove back home and got ready for work. I was already sad and missed him so much.

I got to work and went to my office. I sat in the comfy chair and logged into the computer. I pulled up my email and checked through them all. I had gotten emails from people, trying to get information on how dating Shawn was, which made me roll my eyes. I glanced down at my hands and saw the sparkly ring on my finger. The little piece of jewelry on my finger made me the happiest person in the world.

I heard my phone bling from next to me and grabbed it, hoping it was Shawn.

Shawnie
I am in the air,
miss you princess :(

I smiled and quickly typed my response, I had a scheduled meeting in five minutes.

Millie
Miss you more,
text me when you
land, be safe xo

I took my laptop and my phone, going to the elevator to head up to the meeting room. It was a short walk and I pushed through the glass door. My coworkers sat around the big round table.

"Good morning, Millie." My coworker Hannah said.

"Good morning everyone." I sighed as I sat down.

Around the table was Hannah, Jasmine, Lane, Peter, Gabbie, and James. My boss soon walked in, her name was Catherine. We all opened our laptops and Catherine stood at the front, smiling as she pulled up our recent charts.

"As most of you know, Miss Millie Evans is dating super star Shawn Mendes. With Millie working here, it has boosted our sales by two percent." She smiled, everyone began clapping.

I felt weird, being the center of attention. But, also for the fact that sales went up because I work here. I found it weird that people were buying more magazines with just my articles being in them.

"We have also picked up on our social media presence, our pictures of Millie getting the most likes." She clapped, everyone joining in.

I just sat there with my hands in my lap. What was I supposed to do? All I was doing was getting praised for working at a company and for dating Shawn.

"So, this week we need media coverage on many many things." She started her weekly ramble.

I typed down any information that was designated for me and left notes on the document for any quick ideas.

"Now, as most of you know, Shawn has gone on tour. Millie, you are in charge of the superstar Shawn section this week." She smiled.

"And that requires...?" I trailed off.

"We need complete media coverage on his concerts. We are sending you to be on a one week tour with him. It will be two weeks from now, so this article is benched for this week, hence the reason I gave you other assignments."

"What?" I asked, baffled.

"In two weeks, you will be with on tour with your boyfriend for a week." Hannah scoffed.

I nodded and kept my excitement in. I was going to surprise Shawn with this. He would be so excited.

"What's on your finger?" Gabbie pointed.

"Huh?" I looked at my hands.

"Did Shawn propose?!" Jasmine squealed.

"Uh yeah, last night." I smiled.

Hannah, Jasmine, and Gabbie basically charged over to hug me and Lane and Peter said congrats. James stayed quiet and had an angry look to him. Everyone settled and we finished the meeting. I headed back to my office and sat in my chair.

There was a knock on my door and it slowly opened.

"Hey." James smiled.

"Hey, what's up?"

"I forgot lunch today, did you want to go grab some?" He walked towards my desk.

"Oh yeah, sure. I am going to finish this article I started and then we can go?"

"Sure, just come get me when you're ready." He smiled, pushing his hands into his pockets.

He turned and walked out and I quickly typed up the rest of this article. I sent it for approval and checked my email. People sent in things they thought would be important news, so I sorted through some of them. J-Funk was a weird magazine. It was very teen, fashion, celebrity based, but there were actual news stories in it, too. Like last weeks magazine had an article about the mass shootings.

I thought that with that magazine, it wouldn't sell due to the controversy over guns and gun laws, but that was our best selling magazine in almost a month.

I looked at the clock and saw it was almost 12:30 and grabbed my things. I checked my phone, no text from Shawn. I grabbed my purse and headed to James' office. I knocked and opened the door.

"Ready?" I smiled.

"Yep." He stood up, putting his phone in his pocket.

We made our way to the elevator, talking about the articles we have assigned for the week and our thoughts on them. We walked to a nearby cafe and sat down outside. A waitress came and took our order, I had been here many times so I order the same thing every time.

I had set my phone on the table, in case Shawn would have texted me.

"So, you and Shawn are engaged?" James asked.

"Yeah, looks like it." I laughed.

"Is it serious?"

"Serious? What do you mean?"

"He is a superstar. He can have any girl, plus he is on tour right now, don't you think he might cheat?"

"Shawn wouldn't do that." I brushed off, not letting him know about my concerns that had been swimming through my head already.

"You never know, Mills." He shrugged.

"I do know, he is my boyfriend. We are getting married when he gets back from tour. What is your issue?"

"Nothing. I just don't want to see you get hurt. I know a lot of relationships that have ended when their significant other has gone away and cheated."

"Well, we are different." I shrugged.

Our food came out and James texted someone, but set his phone down shortly after. We ate, which came with light chatter in between. James and I weren't close, but I could tell him surface things that happen.

I told him about our dinner last night and the Olivia girl. He got a kick out of that. We finished eating and James paid for both our meals. Which, I objected to many times. We stood from our chairs and I grabbed my phone and purse.

As I stood back up, James was standing inches from me and his hand snaked around my back, holding me to him, and pressed his lips to mine. And with that, I heard camera shutters from beside us.
