The students were released for lunch.
Hannah packed her stuff and straightened her skirt out.
"Oh, right," she grimaced, "I have to meet Sehun for lunch."
Hannah had managed to avoid him for most of the day, which really actually hurt her. Sehun was the only person that Hannah had ever developed feelings for. If Hannah had to be completely honest, she was falling in love.
But she can't be in love with Sehun. She just can't. And it hurt her.
Hannah's footsteps slowed as she got closer to the cafeteria. Not surprisingly, someone bumped into her.
"Hey! Watch it!" The person scowled.
Hannah spun around, ready to tell that person off. Fortunately for him, it was Tao.
"Oh! Hannah! Sorry, I didn't know it was you," Tao apologized.
Hannah smiled. "So you would be so rude even if it weren't me?" She teased.
Tao flicked her head lightly, "Well, they would have been in my way. But you're cool, so I don't care."
Hannah laughed, "You're so sassy."
Tao flicked her head again. Then he crossed his arms and turned his eyes away. "Hey," he said, barely audible, "you're friends with that Arlene girl, right?"
Hannah nodded so Tao continued.
"Well, she's partners with Kris for Mrs. Misaki's project, correct?"
Hannah nodded again.
Tao frowned this time. "He missed practice yesterday evening and today morning. He's the captain. I'm willing to bet that he was with her." Tao's voice was dripping with venom.
Hannah giggled. "Tao," she gasped in between giggles, "Are you jealous?"
Tao scratched the back of his neck, but didn't respond.
Hannah shook her head. "I'll tell Arlene to stop hogging him," she joked.
Tao slapped her arm playfully. Someone called him over so he left, waving good bye.
Seconds later, she felt a tap on her shoulder. Hannah turned around to find Luhan smiling kindly at her. Hannah smiled back.
"See? You survived a couple hours with Sehun," he teased, playing with a strand of her hair.
"Yeah. I had fun," she admitted.
Luhan placed a warm hand on her shoulder. Hannah blushed furiously, looking down at her shoes.
Luhan leaned in close to Hannah's ear. "You were all he talked about this morning," he whispered, trying to cover his laughter up.
Hannah pushed him away, blushing deeper than ever.
"He was not!" She protested.
"Yes, he was," Luhan chuckled. Then his eyes shifted from her's to something behind her. Or someone.
Hannah glanced behind her to see Sehun, staring solemnly at them. Luhan stepped away from Hannah suddenly and quickly walked over to Sehun.
"Sehun," Luhan said quietly, but not low enough for Hannah not to hear, "I was just telling Hannah-"
"It's fine. I don't really care about her. She's been avoiding me the whole day, anyway," Sehun retorted rather loudly.
Each word was like a dagger to Hannah's heart.
Luhan stepped forward, closing the gap between him and Sehun. His expression was pure hate and disgust at that moment.
"Take that back," he growled softly.
Sehun took a step back and laughed bitterly. "Why? It's the truth."
"You and I both know it's not. You're just a coward, Oh."
Sehun sneered and stuck his face close to Luhan's their noses brushing against one another. They were staring each other down.
Hannah couldn't help but think how the roles should be reversed. Luhan should be talking bad about Hannah and Sehun should be the one defending her. Hannah dug her nails into her palm to clear her thoughts.
Sehun craned his neck and scowled down at Luhan. "Watch yourself, Luhan."
Luhan scowled back, but turned away, walking away from him. "You shouldn't be one to talk. You should watch yourself before I take someone you care about for my own." And he was gone.
Hannah stood there, appalled. She turned her attention to Sehun. "What on earth did he mean?" she asked, eyes wide.
Sehun stared at her for a second and then shook his head. "It would be easier if you weren't so clueless."
Hannah tried to force an explanation from him, but he was already walking away, fists clenched.
Hannah wanted to scream after him, "What the hell did you mean?!" But she didn't.
She didn't.
