Days flew by and then suddenly, it was time to leave for the competition in LA.

"See you at the airport!" Arlene called to Hannah as she, Kris, and Tao drove off.

Hannah waved with the hand that wasn't carrying her light pink with black polka dots duffle bag.

Mal was fussing over Hannah clothes, her hair, her everything really.

"Are you sure you have everything? You've already said good bye to your mother?" Mal shot questions after questions at her.

Hannah tried to answer them all. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure. Yes, I have."

Suddenly, the heavy weight of her bag disappeared. She peeked down and saw a different hand clutching the black duffle bag strap.

"This is heavy. I'll carry it for you," Sehun grunted, not asking for Hannah's consent.

In the corner of her eye, Hannah saw her dad lean in towards Mr. Oh.

"Are they dating?" Mr. Smith whispered to him. Mr. Oh shrugged.

He said, "I wouldn't mind. Would you, Felix?"

Mr. Smith laughed and shook his head.

"DAD," Hannah protested, embarrassment slathering itself across her cheeks.

"Well, are you two?"
"No!"
"Yes."
"Sehun!"

~

Excited energy was bouncing around the car.

Lay, they had picked him up earlier, and Sehun sat in the back. They seemed to be going over their routine, and touching up aspects of it.

Hannah and Luhan sat in the middle, chatting happily.

Mr. Oh was driving the car, with Mr. Smith in the passenger seat.

Sehun's dad tried to make small talk with him, but it was clear that he was nervous. He kept jiggling his knee, making the car jump and tiny bit.

"Dad," Hannah said softly. "We'll be okay."

He smiled at her from the rear view mirror. His eyes said all the things he didn't say.

"I don't want you to go, but I want you to be happy."

"I love you," Hannah whispered in his ear.

~

The airport was bustling with activity. Hannah gripped Sehun's sleeve so she wouldn't get lost.

They checked in at the airline desk and then waited at nearby seats.

She was nervous. God, she was more than nervous. She was terrified.

When was the last time she had been away from her parents for more than two days? Middle school? For a week long field trip.

Hannah kept biting the inside of her cheek with her molars. She wasn't fully comfortable with leaving her family, especially her mom. But Mrs. Smith had said...

"Ham, you really want to go, huh? I don't see why you can't," her mom had said.

"You're really letting me go?" Hannah beamed with excitement.

"Well, yeah. You should do something to relieve the stress I've caused you," her mom joked.

"Mom...won't you be worried?"
"Of course! I'm your mother."
"But, I don't want you to be worried. So relax...okay?"
"I'm not sure how I can relax when my child is in LA without me. Just have fun and be safe, Hammie."

Sehun nudged Hannah's side. "What's wrong?" He whispered.

Hannah looked up at him. "How do you know something's wrong?"

"You bite your lip or the inside of your cheek whenever you're nervous or something's unsettling you," Sehun said. "I do the same thing."

She giggled because he was right. It surprised her that he noticed the tiniest things about her...flattered her, even.

Nevertheless, she slightly shook her head. "I'm fine. It's nothing."

~

This was it. This was it. This was it.

Hannah could feel her legs trembling and her fingers quaking as she approached the security.

Luhan squeezed her arm.

"It's okay," he mouthed.

She didn't know why she was so jumpy. It was only for a couple days, damn.

"Get a goddamn hold of yourself, Hannah."

She watched as her friends walked through security. Arlene was already waiting for her.

Hannah felt someone hug her from behind; it was her father.

"Be good," he whispered. "Stay close to...Luhan."

She nodded and turned around to give him a proper hug.

"Bye," she said.

He released her and gently pushed her towards the security.

Hannah forced herself not to look back.

~

She sat next to Luhan on the plane. He let her have the seat closest to the window.

"Wow," Tao laughed from behind. "First class seats? Damn."

Sehun grinned at him from across the aisle.

"You get used to it, after a couple travel competitions," he joked.

Lay was sitting next to Tao, and Sehun was stuck with the couple.

"Hannah!" Arlene laughed. "We're like royalty!"

Hannah cracked into a grin. "Yeah."

Then the seatbelt signal flashed, and a voice told the passengers to prepare for turbulence.

Luhan gripped Hannah's fingers, making them turn purple.

"You're still afraid of heights?" She asked quietly.

"Hell. Yes. Holy. Crap," Luhan responded through grit teeth.

She shook her head, smiling. Then she craned her neck so she was looking out the small rectangular window.

"Bye," she whispered, then shut her eyes tight.
