Over the past month, Thomas had lost more and more control over his thoughts and actions to the demon who took over his body when he died. Since Madison had been admitted to the hospital, he didn't know how to help Thomas. He noticed that something was going on when Thomas stopped visiting every day like he always did, instead, it was every other day or every few days.
After the doctor spoke with Madison about a diagnosis, he immediately called Thomas and begged him to visit so he could tell him something important. It took a few hours before Thomas had shown up, and during that time, Madison called Alexander, who showed up an hour later with John, but still sooner than Thomas.
"We didn't even know you were in the hospital! Why didn't you tell us?! Are you okay?!" Alexander yelled out and rambled along until John stopped him.
"I apologize, but I want to wait until Thomas gets here before I say anything."
"What?!? Why is Jefferson coming??" Alexander exclaimed. Madison looked at him with a are you seriously asking this question look.
John whispered to Alexander. "Oh." He said simply, understanding.
"How are you and Thomas doing, Mads?" John asked kindly.
"Not so good," Madison sighed, "he hasn't been showing up very much, and he's been acting pretty strange."
A flashback enveloped Alexander; he's been acting pretty strange. The pain he felt that day came flooding back, causing him to press his hand against his chest. Nothing to be changed, nothing to be fixed. A monster like me doesn't have friends.
Monster...
"Alexander?" A voice snapped him out of his flashback.
"What?" He looked up, seeing John looking down at him, concerned.
"Are you okay? What's wrong?" John looked down at Alexander's hand, which was now against his chest.
"Oh." Alexander lowered his hand, but John grabbed it. They stared at each other for a few moments, until there was a knock on the door.
"Thomas! Good, you're here." Madison said happily.
"You're late." Alexander said sassily. John shushed him.
Thomas groaned. "Why is this one here?"
Alexander began to speak, but Madison cut him off. "Because I asked them to be here. You may still have a rivalry, but John and Alex are still my friends."
John smiled at this and greeted Thomas, and gave him a small wink that Alexander didn't notice.
Thomas was confused, but continued. "Anyway, you called us here?"
Madison's positive aura faded. "Yes..." He sat up and cleared his throat. "The doctor said--"
John let go of Alexander's hand and fell to the floor.
