Wrong number (LMAOOO)

Remember last chapter I said I had a funny story? I remembered to do it tonight lol. It's 11:37pm as I start writing but it'll probably be after midnight when I post it.

So I had to go sit in the living room with my sister while my fam went to the store. She didn't need much attention but I needed to stay with her.

So I had my phone out, laughing at stupid things on Pinterest (what else is new), when I get a call.

It says no caller id and naturally, unknown numbers freak me out, especially when they don't have caller id.

So I hesitated for a moment, freaking out a little, before I composed my self and picked up.

There was no sound for a few moments. I said "hello?" twice before I heard a young girl sobbing into the phone, screeching that her boyfriend cheated on her and that he cheated with me and that I was the reason he didn't love her anymore.

Now one of my biggest fears is being accused and charged for something I didn't do; that's why I'm terrified of authority figures. But for some reason I was actually pretty calm through this whole thing, save for my efforts to hold in my laughter lmao.

So for a good few minutes I try to assure this girl (who had said her name at some point for some reason but I couldn't make it out at the time, we'll get back to that later) that she had the wrong number and I didn't know her or her boyfriend, but of course, she wasn't even listening. For minutes she continued sobbing into the phone about how it was my fault and whatnot idk lol.

At one point I asked if she was laughing or crying because for the most part it sounded genuine but there was about 1 second in that 10 minute call that it almost sounded like a laugh. I honestly thought it was a prank call. But nah, I shouldn't have asked that because she screeched at me that she was crying and I'm just there like "ok, alright, it's ok, calm down, take a breath," trying to be as gentle as possible with her.

So after a couple more minutes I say to her "what did you say your name was? Maria?" Wrong move. I misheard her the first time. So again she screeches at me, telling me her name is Leah, and proceeded to sob more.

So I'm there, feeling kinda like a mom as I say to her "ok Leah. I'm sorry. How old are you?" She told me she's 10. Omg. A 10 year old is having this problem? It's funny but also sad that this sort of thing is happening to girls her age, and is becoming more common. I was and still am very conflicted. I feel bad for finding this all so funny but I really do feel bad for her.

So I make this plan in my head to try and calm her down. I'll tell her a bit about myself, as being personal can help, I'll sympathize, I'll help her calm down, and then I'll help her to get through this. I had a pretty solid idea how I'd handle this.

(Honestly I'm impressed with myself. I never maintain composure like that, especially when being accused of something, but something was different this time. Maybe her age or the pain in her voice sparked something in me? Honestly idk. But somehow I stayed calm and even managed to think clearly and rationalize)

Apparently I didn't think it over enough though. Had I had more time to think I might've caught the fatal flaw in my plan before putting it in action. Oops.

So I tell her to calm down and take a deep breath and she does. Ok, off to a good start. So now that she's able to listen it's time to start the personalization. So I introduce myself, and I tell her I'm 16 and-

Oh.
She hung up.
Fan-flipping-tastic.

So for half a second I'm a bit dumbfounded but then burst into tears from laughing so hard. I had to tell someone while the situation was fresh in my mind. I was too lazy at the time to type it all out in my group chat and I knew Snapchat wouldn't give me enough recording time to get my story out, so I go and call one of my Best Friends™️: the one and only, Emmalieeeeeee (I have another book mostly about her it's fun you should go check it out).

So I'm wheezing and crying and my chest and stomach hurt from laughing as I spew out the story to her. I was laughing so hard that I didn't realize a few things until a few minutes later:
1- she actually picked up rather quickly, that's weird
2- She was silent for most of my story, just laughing a bit at the good parts, that's also weird, I thought I'd be interrupted at least twice (jkjk ily bud😂😂❤️❤️)
3- that kid probably thinks her boyfriend cheated on her with a girl 6 years older than him (assuming he's the same age as her)

So yeah, I made mistakes (that I can't erase).

After that though I went on a hunt to kill some of the 170000000000 flies in my house. Ended up getting five (technically 6 tho), here's how I got them:
1- on the wall, solid smack, instant death
2- sane as #1 but on the floor
3&4- swatted out of the air and killed while stunned on the floor
4.5- was on oven, I swatted, it got stuck in one of the tiny squares in the swatter so I assumed it was dead and went to dispose of it with its brothers when it WIGGLED OUT AND FLEW AWAY WTH HOW DID IT FRICKIN LIVE OMG
5- on the edge of a door, solid swat, instant death

Felt very accomplished after that. A bit before dinner tho, there were 2 on the coffee maker and I couldn't find the swatter, so they were spared.

...this time....

Then I continued my normal routine of ignoring self-imposed projects to watch YouTube all day instead!

So yeah, today was something 😂

Thank you all for reading, I hope you enjoyed this fun chapter, hopefully it brought a smile to your face and felt like a bit of a relief from the deeper topics I usually have on here.
