After one week of hard work every single day in the studio, Jae and Younghyun had finally completely finished their first song.

Jae lay on the floor, tired but relieved beyond his aching head. "Phew, if each song takes that long, this is gonna be harder than I thought."

Younghyun laughed, "It'll get easier. We just need to keep going."

Jae groaned from the floor, rubbing his head, "I'm too tired to keep going." He hoisted himself onto the counter, where numerous cups of caffeine had been placed and spilled, resulting in brown stains painting the surface.

Younghyun stood beside him, laughing, "Come on, lazy ass. Work with me here."

Jae pouted. It was a small action but it had the younger unwillingly melting inside. His heart started speeding up and pounding hard inside his chest.

Younghyun looked at the other, loving how his dimples appeared when he gave Younghyun one of those half-awkward smiles and marvelling at how the warm artificial lights reflected molten gold from Jae's eyes.

The older looked back at him, slightly confused. But he didn't say anything. You guys would've probably killed me if he did.

Unable to help himself, Younghyun reached out, brushing a stray hair away from behind Jae's glasses. Then, he leaned forward subconsciously.

His lips touched Jae's softly. The older froze and couldn't move as Younghyun chastely pressed the feathery soft but firm kiss to his trembling lips.

The younger jerked away, watching Jae with weary eyes. The latter met his gaze, still comprehending the past minute.

"Did you just... kiss me?"

The question slipped out, softly spoken with a hint of disbelief.

Younghyun took a step back and scratched at the back of his neck, still internally scolding himself for being too rash.

"Y-yeah I um... I'm sorry I probably should't've... I didn't mean- well, you know-"

"Could you do it again?"

Younghyun halted mid flounder, his eyebrows disappeared beneath his fringe and his breath caught in his throat, causing him to choke slightly.

He cleared his throat, "W-what?" Frozen to the spot, his arms felt like lead. Jae looked at him for a while before laughing. He jumped down from the table and waltzed over to the younger, stopping directly in front of him.

"I asked if you could kiss me again, but apparently you're too much of a sap. So this time, I'll kiss you." Indeed he did. Jae placed his hand of the back of Younghyun's neck and kissed him fiercely, smiling when Younghyun finally melted and returned the sweet gesture, resting his shaking hands on the elder's waist.

They pulled apart and Jae grinned brightly, lighting up the whole room with stars.

"That's more like it," he said. Then, he leaned his forehead against Younghyun's. "Is it weird that I've wanted to do that since I met you?"

The younger closed his eyes, at peace in Jae's embrace, and shook his head. "No," he murmured, butterflies breaking free from his stomach and fluttering around the room.

"Not even a little bit?"

This time he laughed, "Well, maybe a little bit."

Jae chuckled, "So... does this mean we're like a thing now?"

"I dunno, does it?"

"I dunno." They both shrugged.

"We're brilliant at this, aren't we?" Younghyun joked, watching Jae nod. "How about we just forget labels for now and carry on making music?" To that, Jae bleated, letting out a pitiful groan.

Younghyun laughed, "Come on, you lazy dick. Just because we kissed doesn't mean you're slacking. Come on!" He clapped his hands and fell back into the office chair, spinning around on it and pushing his backwards around the room.

Jae rolled his eyes, chuckling, "God, you're such a kid."

"Hey! At least I have a work ethic!" Younghyun reprimanded, "Unlike somebody!"

Jae sighed and picked up his guitar, deciding that the best remedy to his lack of motivation would be to just improv and see how it went.

He started off slow, like a ballad, slowly increasing the tempo till he was playing a sort of R&B style.

He jumped when Younghyun suddenly yelled, slapping the hard wooden desk and pointing at Jae.

"Play that again!"

"What?"

"What you just did! Do it again!"

So, Jae relapsed back, retracing the riff before before going through it again, looking up at Younghyun for any insight into his thoughts as his fingers danced along the fretboard. When nothing happened, he reiterated the riff again. And again. And again-

"Are we gonna get something out of this or are my fingers falling off for nothing?"

"No no no, I'm getting there... aha! That's it!"

Younghyun leapt up, turning on the recording microphones and angling them to the amp emitting the results of Jae's playing.

"Play it twice through in three, two, one-" he pressed a button and pointed at Jae. The elder held a quick breath and let his fingers slide to where they needed to go, barely telling them what to do as they made a beautiful melody.

He stopped playing after Younghyun nodded and watched him tap away at the huge Apple iMac furiously.

Finally, Younghyun seemed pleased with his work.

He handed a set of earphones to the elder and pressed play, a smug look plastered on his face.

Jae's eyes widened as he listened. The way Younghyun has structured the track with the riff he'd come up with only minutes ago laced so expertly between the drum beats and synthesis worked perfectly.

He pulled the headphones down, "Woah.."

Younghyun beamed like the sun, "Cool right? I even have some lyrics already partially written that I think could fit." He handed Jae a few messy sheets of paper with writing scrawled out hurriedly. He also noticed the English lyrics mixed with Korean.

"It's called Out of My Mind, what do you think?"

"I- Younghyun, it's great! I didn't know you spoke English," he mused in disbelief, speaking the last part in said language.

Younghyun chuckled awkwardly, "Yeah, I studied in Canada for a bit. What about you?"

"Me? I was born in Argentina and lived in L.A till I was around 16 and then moved. My parents still live in America." He added.

"How long has it been since you saw them?"

Jae sought back through his memories, trying to think of when he saw his family last. The last time he remembers is him storming out of the house at 12am, plane tickets and suitcase in hand, his body burning with anger.

"I don't know, a while. We didn't exactly separate on good terms." He said quietly.

Luckily, Younghyun got the message that it wasn't something Jae wanted to talk to him about.

"Okay. I won't ask, but if it's been that long, maybe you should try and reach out?"

"Maybe."

Younghyun stood up and wrapped his arms around Jae's lanky frame, "It's okay. Whatever happened, it's okay."
