Oof triple update 😬
When they finally reached the door of the cinema, Jae still hadn't recovered.
"What— how? Why...." he sighed, leaning against a lamppost outside the door, his head casted up to the stars.
"How dare they?! That was so... uGh!" He yelled and Younghyun bursted into laughter at Jae's state.
"Calm down," he chuckled, "There's a third one coming."
Jae groaned, "But not for over a year! I can't wait that long!" He sighed and finally relapsed, leaning into the comfort of Younghyun's arms as they strolled down the path back to their car. Well, Jae's mum's car. Jae's head was still whizzing with thoughts over the rollercoaster of a film, but being in Younghyun's arms definitely helped to calm his nerves.
When they reached the car, the seats were cold to the touch - the both of them shivered as they sat down.
Jae hurriedly fired up the engine and as it roared he fumbled with the heating, turning it up to full and also switching on the heated seats. His fingers shook as he did this until it was all on and the vehicle slowly started to warm up.
Sighing, Younghyun felt his seat slowly rise in temperature until it was nearly burning him- but the nice kind of burning.
After letting his hands regain feeling, Jae pulled out from the car parking space and slid down the ramps to leave the car park.
As they trundled along the Californian roads, alight with city lights that shone in the sky, Younghyun smiled, "That was fun." He noted.
Jae sighed, "It was very good, I just hate that ending and honestly the whole thing was way too emotional for me."
Laughing, Younghyun pointed out Jae's earlier claims, "Dowoon said you'd cry, and you denied it!"
Jae's eyes widened, "Dont you dare tell him!"
Younghyun shrugged, a smirk playing in his face. Jae quickly glanced over after receiving no reply and upon seeing his boyfriend's smug expression, his jaw dropped.
"Hey! You're supposed to be on my side!"
"Not this time, love," he shook his head, staring out the windscreen to gaze at the stars above them. They were driving down the road that ran along the coast, giving them a lovely sight of the waves lapping over each other.
Jae scoffed, but there was still evidence of a smile creeping up on him. He held it back.
Finally they both arrived home to a house with all the lights turned off besides one in the living room.
The two of them crept through the front door, sliding off their shoes and quietly hanging their coats on the hooks. They sprinted for the stairs as softly as they could, eager to get to Jae's room.
"Boys?"
Dongsik's voice echoed through the hallway from the living room, freezing Jae in his place.
The teenager cleared his throat and passed Younghyun on his way to greet his father. The younger followed a few steps behind until both of them stood awkwardly in the middle of the living room, with Dongsik looking them up and down.
Slowly, Jae's father stood up. "Did you have a nice time?" He asked. At first, Jae seemed taken aback by the softness but he quickly got over it and nodded, his fingers fumbling together.
Suddenly Dongsik sighed, "Jae, I know I wasn't the most supportive father when you were younger." At this, Jae looked up. Dongsik has a brief smile on his face.
But he looked guilty, and as though he felt like he'd failed at something. Jae noticed this and felt his heart sink.
"You were a great dad." He murmured. "I just got mad when you didn't react as I wanted you to."
It seemed like Dongsik didn't know what to say, how to reply to his son's words. Instead, he looked at Younghyun, who had been watching silently for the entire time.
He held his hand out, "I apologise for the way I presented myself to you, Younghyun. I understand that you probably haven't the best of views on me right now and that's okay. But thank you for making Jae happy. He needs someone like you." Dongsik smiled as Younghyun shook his hand.
The younger smiled over at Jae, looking at him with wide eyes, "Well I'm not leaving anytime soon so he better get used to me."
Jae grinned, a small laugh escaping.
Dongsik sighed, "Now that I've said my bit, I'm shattered. So if you two don't mind, I'm going to bed. Good night boys," he smiled before making his way from the room, trudging heavily up the groaning stairs.
Younghyun kissed Jae's temple, leaning his head against his afterwards and closing his eyes with his arm around the other. Jae swayed from side to side slightly, lifting his arms to rest around Younghyun's waist.
"Can we just fall asleep on the sofa?" Younghyun whispered, "I can't be bothered to go upstairs and get undressed."
Jae nodded slowly and groggily, his head fogged from fatigue. "Yeah, that's a nice idea," he mumbled, his eyes still closed and his head still resting against Younghyun's shoulder.
