Habit runs his hands through his hair and shakes his head in frustration. I watch him without thinking, and wonder distantly if he is going to hit me.
"You're annoying as fuck, you know that?" he says, his voice deepening a little as he speaks.
"I told you, I want Evan back," I say.
"He's not coming back! It's me now, get. Over. It."
"You really ought to keep your voice down. You don't want to wake the neighbors, they're assholes."
"Fuck me. No, that wasn't an invitation," he says.
I laugh. "You really are a fun guy, aren't you, Habit?"
He grabs me by the throat and slams me into a wall. He presses Evan's body against mine and holds me in place that way. Rage boils in his eyes. I glare back at him, my own anger making me careless.
"You really shouldn't dance with the devil, little Rabbit. You should be very, very afraid."
"You don't scare me."
"I should."
"I'm sorry, but who do you think you're talking to?" I ask him. "I'm Evan's girl, you're in his body. You look like him, idiot."
He releases me and snarls.
"You're lucky I don't hit women."
"Ooh, a demon of standards. Didn't you eat a baby?" I ask. "And that baby was female, by the way."
"See? In your own logic, you should be afraid of me."
"I just explained why I'm not - you don't scare me any more than he does."
Habit sighs. "Whatever. I'm leaving."
And then he's gone, and I don't know where he went.
