Threatened: Habit

We are all hanging out in the house together when everything changes. It goes from being happy-go-lucky to chaotic in five seconds. But hey, that's just how it is.

The window nearby Vinny breaks and something that looks like a black version of the Rake leaps up and swipes at Vinny's leg. He cries out in shock, and jumps back away from the thing. But the thing is having none of that and it runs over to him, clawing down his leg and tearing apart the skin and his jeans.

"A fucking skinwalker? Are you kidding me?" Habit says, exasperated.

The skinwalker whips its head around and jumps at me. Habit whips a knife out and stabs it right in the head. He laughs and snaps its neck with ease. Then he runs at the broken window as a group of Dogs runs up to the house, followed by the skinwalkers.

"Y/ n,  get out of here!"

"No," I say. "I can't."

"You sure can't," says a deep voice from behind me.

I turn around and see a guy holding a knife. He grabs me and presses it to my throat. Then he grins darkly at Habit and the guys.

"Don't hurt her," says Jeff.

"I'm not going to. I'm going to kill her," he says.

"No, you aren't going to, fucker," Habit says.

"I'd be nice if I were you," replies the Dog.

"I'm trying to be nice, but if you don't lower that knife, I will gut you right here," Habit growls.

"No, you won't," the Dog snarls. "You're a coward, and this spineless woman here is going to die, and it will be your fault."

"Don't you ever call her that again, you bastard."

"I think I will call her whatever I want."

I grab his arm and yank the knife away from me. He startles and tries to grab me, but I move out of the way and kick him between the legs. Habit then descends on the Dog, tearing him apart.

Once he's done tearing through the Dog, he turns and faces the other creatures that are just standing and watching the savage show. Habit grins at them, and they leave, fleeing off into the night.

At this point, we take Vinny into the bathroom and clean his wounds. Then, we patch him up and go back to our lives, such as they were before.

And I think Habit is starting to like me that way.
