BLUE
Beep. Beep. Beep.
I groaned and opened my crusty eyes, closing them immediately when the light blinded me.
“Blue?” I squinted at the figure looming over me.
“Alex?” I asked. My right arm felt heavy.
“Oh my god, Blue!”
“Rex?”
“Yeah, baby girl, it’s me.” Rex said. I turned my head to look at him. He stared back at me.
“Are you okay?” He asked. I nodded.
“I think so.” Then a thought occurred to me. “Alex, why the hell are you out of bed? Are you okay? You idiot you scared the shit out of me.”
Alex chuckled. I felt the bed dip beside me and looked down to see Alex sitting there. He had on a tight shirt, and I could see the outline of bandages across his chest. I tried to sit up. Rex supported my back.
“What the hell happened between you and Jake?” I asked Alex.
He sighed. “It’s nothing. We’ve had worse.”
My eyes widened. “You’ve had worse? Alex, he stabbed you!”
“I know.” Alex sighed, looking down.
“Weird, weird boy.”
Rex grinned.
“Well, you had an eventful first two hours at school.”
“Oh my god, I was only there for two hours!”
“Yep.” Rex said, grinning. “That’s my girl, already got guys fighting over you.”
“What do you mean, fighting over me?” I asked, perplexed.
Rex coughed awkwardly and looked away. There was a knock on the door.
“Come in.” I said. I looked up as the door opened to see Jake standing there, looking worried. I immediately gripped Alex’s hand in fear. Alex stared at Jake, distrust in his eyes.
“Why aren’t you in jail?” I asked. Jake looked shocked.
“Blue, I told you, it’s nothing.” Alex calmly stated. I smacked his shoulder.
“Don’t you dare say it’s nothing, Alex. Not only did he have a dagger in school, but he freaking stabbed you! He probably would’ve killed you!”
