ALEX
She doesn’t remember me…
My chest hurt. The cut by my heart burned like a mother fucker. I missed Blue. I missed holding her in my arms, having conversations with her, watching her blush. I missed her having her memory.
I squinted and looked up, the sun in my eyes. The wolves’ forest lay below us. The mountain air was clean and fresh, although biting cold. I heard howling in the distance. Someone came up behind me. It was Snow.
“Hey.” She said. I looked away.
“Hi.”
I saw her crouch beside me. She stared off into the distance.
“How is she?” Snow asked.
“She has amnesia. She can’t remember anything other than Jake and Rex.”
“I know.” I sighed and watched the wind through the woods. Suddenly, a pang ran through my chest. Snow’s eyes widened and her fangs came out.
“Alex, you need help. Now.”
“What do you mean?” Another pain shot through me. Snow reached out and gently touched the spot. Her fingers came away bloody. The world spun.
“Alex?” Snow’s voice was distant. I felt myself falling forward. And then, nothing.
SNOW
With Alex’s arm draped over my shoulders and my arm around his waist, I managed to get close to the hospital when a nurse saw us. She grabbed a few others and met us at the doors. They took Alex away to a back room with me shadowing their movements. I was allowed in the room nearly immediately. They had taken off the old bandages and were working on making the deep cut on his chest stop bleeding. I bit my lip and leaned forward on the hospital chair. Alex’s pitch black hair fanned out around his head. His eyes were squeezed tight, and I could see every muscle standing out against his skin. He was in pain, and a lot of it. A nurse slid a needle into his arm and he went limp.
“What was that?” I asked, my voice guarded.
“Sedative.” She murmured. I nodded. Since I was his Vixen, I made the decisions for him when he wasn’t able to. I have done this for probably 50 years. I flinched when I saw the wound itself. It was ugly, right over his heart. The blade had sliced open the skin between his ribs. I could see the black stitches in the deep, crimson muscle between his ribs. The stitches in his skin had ripped, which had caused the bleeding. The nurses hooked up a blood bag to keep him going. He was losing blood rapidly, and because he was out, he couldn’t take mine. I sighed and forced myself to relax. Alex was in good hands in the only vampire hospital in the entire country.
I knew he could be taken care of better at home, though. A nurse turned to me once Alex had stopped bleeding.
“He was raised in Russia, correct?” She asked me. I nodded.
“Why?”
“Because Russia is the only place with the proper treatment for him. He needs to go there. The complication is that Blue must stay here. She needs to be under careful watch.”
I nodded and glanced over at Alex. The nurses had finished. They transferred him to a gurney and stripped the bed. Then, they put new sheets on. I helped them lay him back down. He had new bandages on his chest. The nurses left. I sat on the bed beside Alex and moved a piece of hair out of his face. He groaned. His eyes fluttered.
“Blue?” He whispered.
“No, Alex. It’s me.”
His eyes focused on me.
“Hey.” He muttered. I smiled.
“Hey. Do you feel okay?” He nodded.
“What happened?” He asked.
“You ripped your stitches and bled out. They want to transfer you to Russia.”
“What? No! I can’t leave Blue here, Snow, She could lose the baby,” I cut him off.
“You need to go if you want to live to see that baby born.” His eyes were pained. He sighed.
“Okay. Give me two days and I’ll go.”
sorry its short. I made a promise and had to get it out. I am already working on the next part. It should be up this week.
