ALEX

I glanced over at Blue, who was laughing with Bre. She smiled broadly, the sun giving her a halo effect. She was beautiful, and I was captivated.

“If I’m going to be forced to work with a vampire like you, then you better at least pay attention and stop drooling over the human.” The preppy girl snarled.

I glared at her briefly. “Considering that you reek of wet dog, I don’t think you are in any position to speak to me like that. And I’m not drooling.” I snarled.

She smirked. “Yeah you are.” She cocked her head toward Jake and Blue. “You know, she’s his mate. The completion of the prophecy?”

I looked over just as Jake placed his hand on Blue’s leg. She looked up at him. I looked away.

“I’m not drooling.” I repeated.

She stared at me for so long that I finally had enough. I looked up at her, knowing the light would be in my eyes. She flinched and looked away. I turned back to the work. Less than a minute later, she was staring at me again. I could sense Snow in the hall. As my Vixen, I could sense her presence from three miles away. Her blood was getting stronger, thankfully. I wasn’t sure how much longer I could last.

Snow and I had known each other since birth. Her family and mine were intertwined- Her mother was my father’s vixen while my mother was pregnant. Snow was born of a human and a vixen. She had always interested me. When I was seven and she was five, her mother told her about what I am. She became my vixen at ten, and has been ever since, although she seems to think that it means she is my girlfriend.

“Stop staring at me.” I snarled. The girl winced.

I heard Blue laugh from the back of the class, but I refused to look up.

The girl stared at me again.

“You know, for a leech, you’re kindof hot.”

I froze.

“What?” I demanded.

“You’re hot. Wanna fuck?”

I stared at her. Had she lost her mind?

“Well?”

I stood up abruptly and walked toward Blue. She looked up as I came up behind her.

“What happened?” She asked.

“My partner is a total creep.” I stated. Blue smirked. Jake growled lowly at me. I glared at him. He refused to break eye contact.

Well shit, I just got into a staring contest with a freaking werewolf.

I saw Blue look between us.

“Guys?”

Jake’s upper lip lifted slightly into a snarl.

“Alex, c’mon, you’re freaking me out.” Blue reached forward and gripped Jake’s shoulder, shaking him.

He broke eye contact for her, staring lovingly at her.

“Sorry. We just don’t get along.”

“Why is that?” Blue asked, turning to me. I sighed and sat on her chair. She glared at me.

“I was sitting there, you know.” I grinned. “I know.”

She huffed.

“Well?” Her arms crossed over her chest. I glanced up at her.

“We just never have. We agree to disagree.”

She probably rolled her eyes, but I couldn’t see because of her hair.

Blue poked me in the shoulder.

“That’s my seat.” She repeated.

I smiled at her.

“Oops?”

She shoved me.

“Asshole.”

I smirked and rolled my eyes in response. She huffed and dropped onto my lap.

My eyes widened. She was so warm… I could hear every beat of her heart.

No. I have more respect for Blue than that.

I swallowed the feeling and grinned at Jake, letting the feud between us distract me from Blue’s AB negative blood.

He was giving me a death glare. Blue shifted on my lap. I slid my arms around her slight waist and rested my head on her shoulder. She looked at me. I could see her eyes. One was blue/grey, and the other was a light hazel. Beautiful.

“What do you think you’re doing?” She asked. I grinned.

“Didn’t want you to slip.” I said. She looked down to hide her blush. The bell rang for homeroom. Jake was still staring at me.

Blue leaned back, pressing her back against my chest. I reveled in the feeling. She was so tiny, so adorable. Bre told her something and she giggled while I was zoned out.

They say to make a girl fall in love with you, you have to make her laugh.

But every time she laughed, I found that I was the one falling in love.
