BLUE

“Hello, Alex. I’m your new substitute teacher.”

“LIAR!” Alex growled. Jake stepped forward. Despite his haggard appearance, he was still strikingly handsome. I put my hand on Alex’s shoulder to find that he was shaking. Crow was studying the man.

“You are a Slayer, aren’t you?” She asked. Alex looked back at me, his eyes fierce.

“Blue, stay back.” He warned. Jake growled and took another step. The man smirked.

“She won’t be safe with you, leech.” Alex closed his eyes and focused on breathing. I wrapped my arms around his waist and rested my head against his shoulder blades, now conscious of the fact that he was over two hundred and fifty years old.

The Slayer took a step forward. Suddenly, I was aware of multiple wolves around us. They were everywhere, in all sizes and colors. Hundreds of them. Snow, Alex, Crow and I were the only ones who weren’t wolves, until Crow too shifted. The Slayer pulled back his trench coat side, revealing the same weapons as before- a stake and butchers knives.

I shuddered at the thought of one of those going through Alex.

The man took a menacing step forward, his hand on the hilt of his stake. Alex tensed.

Jake growled.

“Hurt the girl and you will die.” A harsh voice growled from behind me. I peeked to see Jake back in human form. He stood by Alex’s side, defending me from view. I now understood the sparks. I’m Jake’s mate.

The slayer took another step forward. He was only a few feet away from us now.

“Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Levi Mason, I’m thirty three, and I’m a trained killer. My current mission, is to kill you, New Blood.”

He stared at Alex for a second before he lunged. Jake grabbed me and dropped like dead weight, pulling me down on top of him as Alex dodged the strike and counteracted. Wolves formed a defensive barrier, shielding me from the Slayer and Alex. I watched in horror as Levi lunged again, this time tackling Alex to the ground. Alex was slippery, though. He kicked Levi in the groin and wriggled free of the seemingly older man’s grasp. He crouched in a defensive position, carefully watching every move the man made. The guy lunged yet again, the stake outstretched. Alex jumped to the right, narrowly avoiding the stake. Jake held me away from the fight. I struggled against him, but his grip was firm.

The fight went on, and on, and on. Alex made the man tired eventually, but both were sweating. Snow was being held back by a few wolves as well. One little lapse in Alex’s concentration, and I knew it would all be over. That’s why I didn’t fight Jake anymore. I didn’t scream or cry, because I couldn’t afford to distract him.

The man lunged again. This time Alex grabbed the guy by his collar and slammed him to the ground. Levi rose with a bloody nose. He growled and swung, but was disoriented. He fell again, this time not getting up. Alex’s chest heaved as he stared at the slayer. He was exhausted, I could tell.
