ALEX

As I walked back to my house, I knew I was being followed.

I turned onto my street and looked over my shoulder.

Nothing.

I kept walking. Once I got to my house, I opened the gate and went up the sidewalk, glancing from side to side. Still nothing. I unlocked the door and went in, locking it behind me. Maybe I’m just being paranoid. I went into the dining room and looked out of the bay window. There.

A man in his mid-thirties was walking by my house, looking directly at me through the window. He scowled and kept walking, fingering a weapon under his trench coat.

A Slayer, I realized. A Slayer is after me.

I took a breath and sunk down, my back against the wall. I knew this would happen eventually. I don’t want a slayer after me. I don’t think any vampire does. I don’t want to kill the man, but if it comes down to him or me, well that’s easy.

I will do whatever it takes to stay alive, even if it means becoming a murderer.

A/N this one is shorter because the next one is a 2,500 word massive little b*tch so yeah... it was intense to write and i am still having trouble breaking it into two. It will be epic, though, i promise. I'm getting a really good response from this book, better than any of my others at this stage. I would, however, like to see comments. I don't even care if they are pointing out a typo or something, just please comment. I love you all:)
