The drive to charming was long and boring. I was tired and the view of the road was quickly becoming something I couldn't handle anymore. Pulling in to town I considered just going to a hotel but the fall out of that would be too much to handle with my mother, so instead I drove towards Teller-Morrow Automotive as a feeling of anxiousness took over.
You see, three years prior I had moved away. I was determined to be more than what this town had to offer but when that didn't work out, I found myself crawling back home. I knew the repercussions would be a cussing out from my family but that was better than where I'd been.
Pulling into the parking lot I noted the full row of bikes parked off to the side and groaned to myself. Well, if I was going to make a reappearance might as well make it too all of them. I stepped out of the car and stretched. The charming air was still warm for late afternoon and felt good against my skin. Walking towards the clubhouse I mentally prepared myself, come on Evie you got this!
Slipping my sunglasses onto the top of my head I opened the door and strolled in to the dimly lit room. A man with prosthetic fingers stood behind the bar and looked at me confused "Can I help you mam'?"
Looking around the room I realised that church must of been in session "Im Evie Teller"
I watched as confusion flicked across his face before it registered "like Jax?"
I nodded moving towards the bar "can I get a beer if possible...what's your name?"
The man pulled a beer out of the fridge behind the bar and handed it too me before smiling "I'm Chucky"
I took a large sip of my drink enjoying the feeling of it going down after a long day of driving "nice to meet you Chucky"
Before we could speak anymore the doors to the chapel opened and men in leather kuttes piled out, the ones I recognised stopped in their tracks when they saw me standing there while the ones I didn't recognise looked confused. My eyes trailed along them pausing at the bald one covered in tattoos, our eyes met and I felt like my insides did a flip. But before I could think anymore into it my attention was brought the the blonde who trailed out of the chapel at the back.
My brother stopped dead in his tracks as his eyes scanned me "Evie?"
I put my hands on my hips, becoming increasingly uncomfortable with a dozen sets of eyes boring into me "yes?"
He didn't respond but shot out and wrapped his arms around me in a tight embrace that I eagerly returned. The familiar scent of my brother filling me with a sense of safety that I hadn't felt in years.
He pulled back from me, his blue eyes staring down into my brown ones "good to have you home"
Once he moved away I was engulfed in a group of leather clad men hugging and welcoming me home. The bald one I'd made eye contact with earlier had moved towards the bar and taken a seat. The feeling of wanting to know him got even stronger as I watched him watch all of the others cheering my return.
"Your mother is gonna die when she sees you doll" Tig laughed as he wrapped an arm around my shoulders "we all missed ya so much"
I laughed as I made eye contact with mystery man again and his intense eyes held my gaze. What the fuck was it about this guy that I couldn't get enough of?
The night wore on like I'd never been gone, I drank and laughed with my family but before long my eyes started to grow heavy and the realisation that I had driven hours and hours today set in.
I turned to Jax "Can I crash in your dorm tonight...well until I find somewhere to live"
He nodded "of course, get some rest cause I'm sure you're gonna have a big day tomorrow...Hap can you help Evie bring her shit in?"
I turned my eyes towards the bald guy who now had a name as he nodded and gestured outside. I lead the way out to my car before popping the trunk "there's not too much a few bags"
He looked over my shoulder "a few? That's like six"
The sound of his raspy voice sent shivers right up my spine and I could've cursed myself for already developing a crush on a guy I knew nothing about other than the fact his whole demeanour had me doing backflips on the inside. He lent forward and grabbed a few of the bags whilst I grabbed whatever I could carry and followed him back inside.
He pushed the door open to Jax's dorm and I sighed aloud at how messy it was, it was obvious he hadn't slept here in a while. Happy placed my bags on the bed and spun around too look at me "did you need anything else?"
I had to stop myself biting my lip as I shook my head no and muttered a thanks before he disappeared out the door and I locked it behind him. I shimmied out of my jean shorts and pushed the bags on to the floor suddenly too tired to do anything else as I climbed into the bed.
