It was after lunch by the time I woke up the next morning, I'd stayed up and waited for Happy to arrive home and he did so around three am. By the time I'd gotten into bed to sleep it was pushing five am and I don't remember my alarm going off so I'm assuming Happy had organised Chucky to run the office today and turned it off.

My phone had a couple of missed calls from Jax, Happy and Tara and I wondered what it could be that was so important that Happy of all people called me during the day, it was unusual as he usually just kept whatever he had to say until he was home and we saved phone calls for emergencies.

I stretched as I dialed Happy and listened to the ring tone, feeling the usual little morning flutters of baby Lowman in my lower stomach that felt more like the butterflies you get in my tummy.

'Babe, have you spoken to Jax?' Happy's deep voice sounded on the other end of the line and even two years later I felt my heart skip a beat.

"No what's going on?" I yawned sitting up in the bed, leaning over to scratch behind Lux's ears.

'Gemma had an accident with the boys last night, they're all okay but they're still at the hospital'

I squeezed my eyes shut tight as I listened to him talk, of course she had. I felt guilty that I didn't do more to stop her but I knew the drama would explode as soon as Tara and Jax found out. I sighed before I spoke "should I go?"

'Yeah, but don't get too involved cause stress isn't good for my boy'

I smiled listening to him talk about our son "okay well I'll go soon, where are you?"

'Sorting some loose ends. I'll bring dinner home tonight, just relax'

I rolled my eyes at his elusiveness "okay, I love you"

'Love you too' he rasped before the line went dead.

I threw myself back on the bed, my hands finding the small bump of my stomach "oh my boy, what are we gonna do with this family?"

I walked into the hospital and up into where they told me Gemma was, the smell of the hospital made me feel a bit nauseas but I pushed through. Opening the door I found Clay sitting next to her bed with her and I outwardly groaned "what the fuck are you doing here?"

Gemma went to speak but Clay cut her off "just checking on your mom"

I rolled my eyes making my way across to the other chair on the other side of the room "did you tell Jax you were stoned?"

"She was ran off the road by a van" Clay spoke "that's what happened and that's what Jax knows"

I rolled my eyes and looked directly at my mom "if you lie about this, you're gonna end up getting someone innocent hurt"

She looked down and away from me so I turned my attention to Clay "and you, shouldn't be here. Is beating her to a pulp not something you remember? She had a car accident and still looks better than that"

"I'm going to go" he sighed standing and looking back at my mother to squeeze her hand "be safe"

I watched him walk out of the room as the fire in my stomach bubbled, every time I saw him my hate just intensified as I realised how slimy he'd been in the past. I wasn't oblivious to the input my mother had either but at the end of the day she didn't have the power Clay once had to follow through, and she was my mother.

"Don't tell Jax" she muttered looking at me desperately and I felt myself shaking my head in disgust.

I stood grabbing my purse "I won't. But I can promise you he's gonna find out and if you value your grandchildren, and I'm not just talking about Abel and Thomas, you will pull your shit together Gemma cause this web of lies, ain't it" and with that I walked out of the room.
