Steven + Connie Falling for my Bestfriend

Welcome Back

Beach City
Connie heads to Steven's house after being away for Space Camp. She knocks and stands at the door patiently until Pearl opens it.

"Ah welcome back Connie." Pearl greets.

"Thanks!" Connie says happily.

Pearl opens it wider for Connie to enter.

"Onion go away!" Steven says annoyed.

"Sorry to disappoint, it's just me Connie." She says pretending to walk away.

Steven jumps off of his bed and down the stairs to catch up with her.

"Connie!" He yells hugging her tightly.

She laughs. "Hi Steven." She greets. They walk over to the couch.

"It's been so boring!" He says plopping down.

"Even with Spinel?" Connie asks.

"When you left after that." He clarifies.

"Well, wanna know about Space Camp?" Connie asks excited to tell. "Sure!" Steven replies.

"Okay well we got sorted into teams and I was one of the only girls. There was another one but she wasn't really interested in space. She was more forced to come. So me and this guy Alex from my team hung out..." She explains.

When she finished her story they started to watch the last season of Under the Knife that Steven recorded and waited to watch with Connie.

"Well I'd better go!" She said getting up after episode 5. "What nooo!" Steven complains.

"Sorry Steven we can hang out another time. Tomorrow I'm going shopping." Connie relies.

"Aww what? Cmon you just got here!" Steven complains.

"I know... I just really wanted to see you before I go. Maybe we can hang out Monday?" Connie suggests while walking towards the door.

Steven walks beside her and says, "Well it'd be rude of me not to take you home. You know... because I can drive now." He says slightly flexing.

"Actually my parents are picking me up in a few minutes... but you can wait with me?" Connie asks.

Steven nods and opens the door for her to exit. Connie stops to pet lion and then walks over to the rocks. She waits for her parents leaning on the rocks. Steven and Connie look at each other and blush awkwardly.

"I uh have school Monday. My mom has been more more stern because I'm in high school. 9th grade was such a stress." Connie says filling in the silence.

"Oh wow good luck. I'm glad I don't have school." He says while shuffling his feet.

"Yea... you should be. I'd rather spend the day with you." She starts.

She sees Steven look at her blushing and continues, "like walking around the town is way better than being stuck in school."

Steven puts his hand on her face leaning in. They both blush deeply. They both hear a car coming and separate quickly.

Connie's parents pull up by the rocks. Connie awkwardly waves goodbye to Steven, still blushing profusely.

The next day
Steven wakes up pretty late from sleeping so late. A wave of regret and embarrassment washes over him thinking about yesterday. He groans to himself and goes downstairs to make cereal.

Amethyst is sitting on the counter munching on cereal as well. Steven grabs the empty cereal box.

"Aww sorry dude... I finished it." She says laughing. Great Steven thinks.

Steven goes into the bathroom and gets ready for the day putting on his signature outfit. Sweater, star shirt, pants, and flip flops.

We walks out of the house and down to the Big Donut. Walking there he sees Connie talking to a guy. He usually would have waved hi to her but decided to hide and listen in from curiously.

"Ugh I don't want to go to school." The guy complains.

"Psh, I go to the same school every year and I still have no friends." Connie replies.

"What about this Steven?" He asks.

"He doesn't count." She answers.

"Why not?" The guy asks.

"Because he doesn't go to school, and he's my best friend. Ughhh don't mention him right now though. I invited you to take my mind off of him." She says walking towards the big donut.

I'm going to starve. Steven immediately thinks. Then thinks about how she doesn't want to think about him. I've ruined our friendship. He thinks. Great
