Steven + Connie Falling for my Bestfriend

Connie and Gneiss immediately start working on creating a human gem. It always sounded like fiction to Connie but now she wasn't so sure.

Steven anxiously sat passing the time talking with Lapis, Bismuth, Periodot while waiting for Connie to return from inside of the barn.

When she did a few hours later she was laughing with Gneiss and waving goodbye to her.

"Bye Steven. I'm going to be heading home now. But the first thing I worked on was helping Gneiss reverse the effect she put on the gems so you can go help her with that." She says while walking to Lion.

"No goodbye hug?" Steven asks as Connie gets on top of Lion.

"Nope." She says sticking her tongue out as Lion opened a portal to her house.

Steven chuckles to himself as he walks towards the barn. He saw Gneiss setting up the machine that once put his friends into their gems but would now help them. Gneiss gives him an annoyed look and sighs.

"Hello Steven, Connie told me she would get a replacement for her."

Steven nods and stands waiting for what to help with.

"Don't just stand there, get the gems! I don't have this problem with Connie." Gneiss groans to herself.

"Well if you hadn't noticed I'm not Connie." Steven says while walking to the gems.

"Oh I know, Connie is resourceful, educated, and beautiful. You're none of the above."

"You like Connie?"

"Of course I do, she's going to make an excellent bride."

"Marriage has to be mutual Gneiss, and she doesn't like you."

"But but she will. That's the thing about women Steven; gems or not, you have to take a stand and show her how you feel."

"Which is why you're failing and she'll like me." Gneiss continues while pressing a button on the machine facing towards the gems and Steven.

The gems started to glow and reform.

"Guys!" Steven says running to give them a hug.

"Ugh finally!" Amethyst says looking at her form.

"What was that thing?" Pearl groans suddenly seeing Gneiss.

She wasn't the only one because Amethyst and Garnet pulled their weapons. 

"Woah woah, guy's it's okay now." Steven says walking in front of Gneiss.

"Right..." Amythest says putting her whip away. 

"I'm sorry about your discomfort. I intended for either one of you or Rose to be my bride." Gneiss explains.

"And how's that going?" Amythest snickers.

"Pretty well actually. I've found a bride." Gneiss answers not getting Amythest's sarcasm.

"Well, congratulations eh Gneiss?" Pearl congratulates rather annoyed.

"Ooh- When's the wedding? I haven't been to one in ages?" Amythest says excitably.

"In two years." Garnet specifies.

"Yea well once you go to one, you have to go to another. Steven claims he's not getting married in a long time and Pearl doesn't tell us about the mystery women from years ago."

Pearl blushes awkwardly and Steven clears his throat. "She didn't say who her bride was." 

"Connie." Gneiss explains in a duh tone.

Amethyst sucks her teeth, Pearl looks at the floor, and Garnet keeps her grin.

"Anyway... I'm heading back home since we're finished here." Steven says walking away.

"Do you by any chance might know where Connie'll be tomorrow?" Gneiss asks.

"Yea she'll be at school all day, then studying, then practicing violin." Steven answers as Gneiss walks beside Steven.

"I take it I'll be staying in Homeworld?"

"Yea, Peridot, Bismuth, and Lapis will show you." Steven says looking at the trio. 

"Thanks." Gneiss says walking over them. It was the nicest thing she's said to Steven.

Connie stood at the school. The bus left and teachers were rushing kids inside for school. But she couldn't move. She always disliked the kids but never in a while had she not wanted to enter. She didn't feel like having to pretend as if the rumors didn't faze her.

It's annoying; having everybody judge you from what they've heard. Who knows how stretched out the rumor has gotten by now? All she knew was she already felt the stares and anxiety. 

So instead she did something uncharacteristic; she left. Of course, making sure no teachers saw her leave. She'd never skipped before but had common sense to know they wouldn't just let her leave. 

Once free she walked for a while, seemingly nowhere. Somehow she walked all the way to the boardwalk as if in a trance. She hadn't felt tired from the long-distance until she realized where she was and all the walking caught up to her.

Connie walked to a bench and sat exhausted.

She woke up to a tap from an annoyed Steven and happy Gneiss next to him.
