Steven + Connie Falling for my Bestfriend

Babysitting

"Have fun?" Mr. Maheswaran asks after Amina was all set in the car.

"Definitely! We went everywhere on the boardwalk." Amina answers happily recalling the day.

"How much trouble did Connie get in?" She asks.

"Oh lots, you don't have to worry about that." He answered.

"Dr. Maheswaran is at work?" Amina asks.

"Yea, after I drop you off I have to go too," Doug explains.

"Okay, I'll be fine with Connie."

"What's this?" Amina asks pulling out a book from Connie's bookshelf.

"Don't-" Connie starts but gives up seeing her already open the book.

"Just don't disorganize my books." The girl trying to study pleads exhausted from all the personal invasions.

After twenty minutes had passed the complaining picked up, again. She fully regretted telling her parents she could babysit while they were working, or maybe even not taking her back to Stevens, but she knew he had a lot on his plate. It wouldn't be right to add more. If Steven can save the galaxy the least she could do was babysit a little girl.

"I'm bored. Don't you do anything fun? All you do is stay in this room." The complaints agitating the previously focused girl.

"I have a lot of learning to do. I know you've definitely had some type of education, don't you like studying?" Connie asks.

"I hate studying! All we ever did was work on vocabulary and gem stuff."

"Do you know how to use your gem powers?" Connie says turning her chair around to face the girl sitting on her bed, definitely intrigued. She didn't want to pry, but if she was mentioning it...

"I just told you that's all I worked on. Of course, I know a thing or two."

Connie rolls her eyes but moved on past her attitude.

"Still, I'm surprised, it took Steven a long time to really get his gem... abilities," Connie says pretty proud of the young girl.

"Well, I'm not Steven."

"I know," Connie says quickly, trying not to offend the girl.

"Wanna see something cool?" Amina asks putting the book down. Now that Connie could see it clearly it was the third book of the series Unfamiliar Familiar. Either she finished the first two or she was reading it out of order like Steven.

"Impress me." The girl answers after a brief pause.

Amina looked at Connie's strawberry lip balm and focused on it. Slowly but consistently it lifted from the desk and onto the owners palm. She smiled proudly at her work after seeing the look of awe on Connie's face.

"Color me impressed." Was all she could mumble before looking in one of her desk drawers for something.

"Are we finally doing something interesting?" Amina asks trying to take advantage of how stumped the girl was.

"Here is a binder of all known types of gems. There isn't a single gem with that." "What are you-" She starts but realizes its bit of a rude question and rephrases it. "I mean... what did Gneiss do to create you?"

"Oh," Amina says clapping her hands. "This is a fun story."

"Gneiss has told me about this at least 7 times. She made a whole mini kindergarten and named it Kinder-bis. Probably because of era 2, I would have named it Kinder-Two or something better but... ya know. Anyway... she snuck onto earth and worked quietly, for months!"
