Steven + Connie Falling for my Bestfriend

Off day

Boardwalk 

Steven had decided to go to Homeworld and show Gneiss around. She reminded Steven of Periodot; stubborn and smart. 

"This is the boardwalk. Where I get a lot of my food. You can eat too! Or not if you don't want to." Steven said as they walked to Peedee's food truck.

Steven got the bits as usual and after saw Gneiss dash off somewhere. "Gneiss!" Steven yells as he ran towards her.

Gneiss stopped in front of sleeping Connie. Steven sighed in annoyance. He warned her not to fall asleep in random places.

Steven tapped Connie and she snapped awake. "Connie! Steven lied and said you would be at a school." Gneiss says sitting down happily next to her.

"Yea why are you here Connie? You do have school today." Steven asks confused.

"Oh, yea I forgot to tell you... I have an off day." Connie lies.

Steven immediately knew that was a lie but decided not to question it. 

"Well, you can help me give a tour of Beach City to Gneiss."

"Sounds like fun." Connie said with a smile.

They walked around showing things to Gneiss and telling stories about some places.

"Over here is my house." Steven said pointing to his house as Connie snuck another fry.

"This is where you sleep, eat, and shower? Humans require so much need." Gneiss says flabbergasted.

Connie giggled at that comment while Steven sighed. "You know Gneiss, I think there is something you might like." Connie says while opening the bathroom door.

"Some find it fascinating." Connie says letting Gneiss in.

As soon as she entered Connie grabbed Steven's hand and dragged him into his room. 

"What's up?" Steven asks.

"What's your deal with Gneiss. I'm supposed to be the sarcastic one." Connie teases.

"Nothing." Steven says opening the door for him to exit.

Connie closes the door and starts leaning on it, blocking his exit.

"I'll tell you if you tell me why you ditched school today." Steven says cooly.

Connie sighs but complies. "Angelica started some random rumor around and I didn't feel like being judged all day." Connie says quickly.

Steven grabs her hand to try to console her but she playfully punches his arm telling him it's his turn. "Gneiss has a crush on you." Steven says quickly as well.

"Really?" Connie says getting up from leaning on the door.

"Way to say it happily Connie." Steven mumbles.

"Aw don't be jelly, I'm the strawberry." Connie says laughing.

"Haha so funny Connie." Steven says walking out of the room.

Gneiss is sitting on the couch touching the tv.

"How do you turn this thing on? Humans make everything so hard." Gneiss complains.

Steven walks over and turns on the television for her and sits down next to her. Connie follows and sits next to Steven putting her head on his shoulder. Which was easier for her because he was shorter than her.

Steven took this as Connie telling him not to worry, which soothed him. 

"Well, Gneiss that was the tour of Beach City. Any questions?" Connie asks sitting up straight.

"Nope, I'll see you on Sunday for our work."

"You don't want us to walk you to Homeworld?" Connie asks.

"Not if you're coming with Steven. I can walk myself." Gneiss says walking away.

"So...Angelica?" Steven says hoping Connie will elaborate on it.

"Eh, I don't wanna talk about it."

"Well, I do have something you might want to talk about. Bismuth said to give you these?" Steven asks giving Connie a bracelet and earrings.

"I never took you for the jewelry type." Steven added.

"Oh, hush. She made me these because my sword broke. The earings are to activate the warp pad since I don't have a gem. And the bracelet, if I take it off, puts my sword in my hand." Connie explains putting the stuff on.

Connie takes off the bracelet and a white and turquoise sword plops into her hand. "She even got it in your favorite color." Steven says surprised.

"How'd you know this was my favorite color?" Connie asks.

"You wear turquoise all the time."

"Maybe I just look good in it."

"You look good in every color." Steven replies.

Connie blushes, "thanks." 

"So... what are you going to tell your parents about your unexplained absence?" Steven asks.

"I'll just tell her the truth." Connie shrugs.

"But you won't tell me?" Steven asks.

"Precisely." 

"Anyway I have to go, school's out by now. I'll see you soon." Connie says kissing Steven's cheek.

"Not soon enough." Steven says grabbing her hand, causing her to blush.

"Goodbye." She says hopping on lion.

"Lion's nicer to her than to me, isn't he?" Steven says talking to his cat walking by.
