"I always thought about you. You my baby boy. Regardless if you wanna believe the shit I'm saying or not. Just know I love you, and I would do anything to get that time back."

Jay sat there speechless. His whole life he'd been fed lies. He didn't really know how to feel at the moment. It was just all too much to take in at the moment. He placed his hand on his stomach for comfort and took a much needed deep breath.

Kareem took notice and gave Jay a small smile.  "Crystal told me u having a baby." He said as he observed his son. "Couldn't really believe it until I seen it. I ain't think you was like that tho."

Jay scrunched his face. "Like what?" He asked.

The man cleared his throat. "Well...ga-"

The teen rolled his eyes and held up his hand. "Pause. Lemmie stop u right there. If u gonna start with the homophobic shit then I'm out."

"Nah nah, I ain't even like that. Just unexpected."

"And I'm not gay, I'm bisexual."

"Ain't nothin' wrong." Kareem ensured. "This generation's more open. I'm learning."

"Umhum..." Jay said. He began to tap his leg anxiously while trying to look everywhere else but his father.

"Hey." Kareem said trying to get Jay's attention but the boy continue looking up at the prison wall. "What's wrong?" He worried.

Jay stood quite and let out a shakey breath.

"Look at me bug." The older pleaded.

And with that, the younger began shaking, chest heaving up and down and all.

Bug.

The nickname his father game him as a little boy. All those memories came rushing back in. The times when they'd go to the basketball court right outside the projects. When they'd get ice cream from Baskin-Robbins and go sneaker shopping for the newest Jordan's. Kareem didn't have it like that but he always mad sure his kids were straight. Jay was spoiled.

The man got up from his side of the table and pulled the his son up for a hug.

"It's ight. It's all good now. I got you, forever." He said as he tucked Jay's head into his neck. He began rubbing his back as the boy held on tighter.

"It ain't fair." Jay sniffed as he used his shirt to wipe he tears. "I hate her bro!" He yelled as he threw his phone to the floor.

The women he once called mom took away what he'd needed most. His father. The woman was evil and vindictive. She put her child's happiness on the line just to spite her baby father.
