"Jazz, please, no."
You waved your arms pathetically from a rock you were sitting on as the Mer splashed you with water. He even had the audacity to laugh at your misery.
Great, now your hair is wet. And you just showered this morning too!
You pouted and brushed your hair with your fingers before shaking your head like a wet dog after taking a bath that it didn't want. A few moments later you stopped and closed your eyes, trying to ease off the dizzy spell. You laid back on the rock, arms pillowing your head as you swung your legs gently, feeling the cool water on your skin.
You heard a surprised shout.
You gave a proud mama smile.
Your little soldiers have arrived.
Brushing your now slightly dry hair back so it wouldn't cover your face, you looked at Jazz.
But he wasn't there.
The black and white Mer was being tackled underwater by two small figures. You narrowed your eyes as if the action could give you underwater vision. If that actually happens you would be so glad.
You held on to the rock you were sitting on a bit tighter. With all the water splashing around you could accidentally slip and fall in the pool. Goodness knows how deep it is and you don't want to go down there to find out.
Leave that to the daring people.
You're happy without the knowledge, thank you very much.
"Ya little traitors! Both of ya!" Jazz shouted playfully when he emerged from the pool. Clinging onto his shoulders are the youngest Mers in the pod.
Bumblebee and Bluestreak.
Bumblebee was the first Mer you had encountered. He seemed to love the toast you gave him on your first day of work so every morning you brought an extra piece of toast to share with him. Bluestreak was shy at first, but he managed to warm up to you. You also found out that he, Prowl and another Mer called Smokescreen were brothers. Smokescreen being the oldest.
You thought that Prowl was the oldest.
.
.
.
Ha!
Apparently, the oldest one didn't have to be the serious one. You heard from Jazz that Smokescreen likes to gamble. You picture the scene where he, Jazz, Ironhide, Ratchet and the twins sitting on rock chairs in front of a round rock table playing poker with whatever they had under there.
Kelp maybe?
You had burst out laughing so suddenly that you startled a few Mers around you.
It's only been three days and you felt like you've known them for ages.
You learned all of their names from the files you got after you gave your report to Fowler. Well, you had guessed their names before you received the files...
But they were stupid names once you compare them to their real ones.
That was an interesting story...
Flashback Start!
You stared dumbly at the closed door. He didn't need to be that harsh. But the world isn't filled with people that are all polite and shit. You shrugged and made your way to your office.
You looked around. Not many people were passing by. Some were in a hurry and others were looking down at their papers.
You smiled.
You reached into your pocket and took out a piece of bubble gum you saved before you came here this morning. You ripped the wrapping open and popped the gum in your mouth.
Bucket list check. Eating gum during work. Check!
You walked down the halls and were about to press the elevator button when you heard someone call your name.
"Y/n! Hey Y/n! Hold up!"
You recognized that voice. It was Sam from yesterday.
You gave him a wide smile, showing off your teeth. You kept the gum hidden under your tongue.
"Hey, Sam!" You greeted. "Do you need me for something?"
You hoped that Boss didn't question why you had drawn a small grumpy Fowler reprimanding a small you during your first day of work. You know, when you were a bit late and he gave a snarky reply to tape a map on your forehead?
You will never forget that scene for the rest of your life.
Sam's nervous laugh broke your train of thoughts. Now you noticed that he had paper folders in his hands.
He used one hand to scratch the back of his head.
"Well, I kind of forgot to give you this yesterday since we had that little detour to the Decepticons' territory..." He trailed off as he handed you the folders
You took a look at each of them.
The blue one was 'Autobots' while the purple one was 'Decepticons'.
You already guessed which one belongs to which pod.
Oh crap.
Your jaw is getting stiff and you're pretty sure that Sam has been eyeing the fake grin you had on your face for a while now.
He knows what's up.
You gave a laugh.
"Thanks for the files Sam but I better get going. Got some stuff to do ya know?"
He nodded.
"No problem Y/n. I need to get going as well. I'll see you later at lunch? Miles said that there's going to be a special menu today." He said.
"Sure! See you then!" You replied.
You watched as the boy rushed off in the opposite direction until you couldn't see you anymore.
You gave a sigh and pressed the elevator button, waiting for the doors to open.
You chewed the gum in your mouth and instantly grimaced.
"Oh gross, it's all sticky and gooey now."
The doors slid open. You stepped inside, your tongue trying to release the gum that's stuck on your teeth.
"Worth it." You mumbled.
Your walkie-talkie crackled to life.
"Y/n, I know you're a newbie here but shouldn't you know that eating gum during work is against regulations? Honestly, what do they teach you, youngsters, at school?"
You groaned in annoyance.
