Chapter 40

2 weeks had passed. It was now October 1st. Ryne was still pregnant. She visited the doctor one last time before we left California. He said that she needed to get checked again when we got to New York, and that if she went another week over, they were going to have to induce her labor.

We were driving through Missouri. Ryne was asleep in the lounge and Hannah, Maddie, and I were all talking. Ryne's head was in my lap.

"She's miserable, and Jase hates to see her like this" Maddie says.

"I do too. I never went this far over" I say.

"I kind of feel the way she does. I want to meet this baby already" Hannah adds.

"Me too" I say. "I can't believe th-".

I was cut off by Ryne shooting up from my lap and grabbing her stomach.

"Baby, what is it" I ask.

"I-I don't know. It was a sharp pain in my side" She says.

"Like a contraction?" Maddie asks.

"I-I guess?" She answers.

"If it was, it will feel like period cramps" Hannah adds in.

"She's right, but they're 100× worse than period cramps" Maddie says.

"Then that's what is was" Ryne says clenching her stomach again. "I...I think I peed on myself". We all look at her lap only to see a wet spot on her pants. Maddie and I look at each other.

"Her water broke!" We exclaim. Maddie jolted up from her seat and ran up front. Ryne layed down on the couch.

"Will you watch her, Han?" I ask. She nods before I run up to the front to find Tuck. I realized that we were pulling off at a rest stop.

"What's happening?" I ask.

"Something is wrong with the bus. It's making a weird noise, so were pulling over" He says.

"Why do you look freaked?" He asks.

"Ryne is in labor" I say. Everyone in the hus looks at me and shouts 'What?!' at the same time. Naomi, Jennifer, and Tae all run to the back of the bus to Ryne.

"You go take care of Ryne, I've got the bus" He says. I nod. He kissed me before walking out the door to meet the driver. I made my way to the back of the bus. Ryne was moaning in pain. Hannah was beside her on the floor. Maddie, Tae, Carrie, Namoi, Jennifer, Jase, Marrisa, Rocky, Ridge, and Isaiah all stood in front of her. I went and sat beside her in the floor.

"Mama, I-I need to get to a hospital" She says.

"I know, baby. I know" I say. "Isaiah, will you go see what's going on with the bus?". He nods and runs out. A few minutes later he came back in.

"Liza, we can't leave. Tuck says that something is wrong with the engine. He tried calling an ambulance for her, but they can't get here either because of a wreck. Apparently, they had to send out all the units".

"Oh, my god!" Ryne says throwing her head back. She hadn't let go of mine or Hannah's hands.

"Its gonna be fine" I say. Hannah looks up at me.

"Liza, do you know how to deliver a baby?" She asks. I shake my head. "Yeah, me either".

"I can help" Jase says.

"You're going to have to stick your fingers inside of her to find out how dilated she is" Hannah says to him.

"Oh, my God" He says and falls into Isaiah. Isaiah caught him.
