"Look me in the eye and tell me you don't like him."
"Ruel-"
"Y/n, you're a horrible liar."

"Wait, Ruel-"
"If you want to be with him, maybe try breaking up with me first."
"We didn't do anything! He just invited me to have lunch with him and his friends. It wasn't just us!"

"But you wished it was just you two!"
"Ruel, I like you! That's why I'm with you."
"I've seen the way you act when you're around him. You always want to see him. You're forgetting that I'm your-was your boyfriend."

"W-what?"
"I can't deal with this anymore! I've put everything into our relationdhip and to find out you don't like me anymore is the worst feeling in the world."

"I love you, Ruel. I reall do, but-"
"But?"

I took a deep breath.

"Maybe we do need a break."
"A break? Or break up?"

"I don't want to lose you, Ruel."

He bit his lips and took a step closer to me, leaning down to meet my eyes.

"You've made me so happy these past few months, y/n. I love you. It just feels like sometimes you'd rather be with someone else and-"
"But I don't want to be with someone else." I  whispered.

He didn't say anything. He stared at me with a look of pity.

"I'm sorry, y/n." he said, quietly, standing up straight.

"Ruel-"
"This is for the best." he looked down at the ground.
"So this is it?"

He looked up and I saw his eyes watering.

"I'll see you around, okay?"
"Ruel-"
"I'm sorry I wasn't enough for you. I hope the next person gives you everything you need." he said quickly before leaving.

I watched the door close.

"But you're everything I need."

That day, I should've ran out and convinced him to stay. I should've tried harder to show my affection towards him. I should've put forth more effort.

Now I'm here, all alone, watching him dance with someone else.

"You were supposed to be my prom king." I whispered to myself, letting a tear fall from my eye.

It hurts watching you move on when I know I should've moved on by now. You're still the voice I hear in the back of my mind. You never left. You'll never leave and that's what's keeping me here, here waiting for you to come back. But you're never going to come back.
