"Make sure you get to Dylan's house before six so we can set up."
"Yeah. I'll see you tonight."
"Bye, bro." Mark said, turning the opposite way.
I was walking through the empty halls when I heard someone crying.
I stopped and listened to where it was coming from.
When I opened the gym door, I saw someone crying.
"Um, hey, are you okay?"
She looked up at me, surprised and said, "yes, I'm totally fine. That's why I'm crying."
"I'm sorry. I didn't intend to be rude or anything."
She closed her eyes and put her head in her hands.
I sat down next to her.
"Is there anything I can do to help?"
"No, but thanks."
"Um-"
"I'm sorry for being rude but I'm not in the best mood right now and I would appreciate it if you left."
"But I just want to help you."
"I appreciate it but I don't need your help and I don't even know you."
I took a deep breath and said, "okay then. I'm just going to leave."
I began to walk away but stopped myself.
"Hey, my friends are throwing a party tonight. It's at 130 Hill Drive and if you want you should come."
"Uh, thanks. I'll think about it."
I nodded. "I'm Ruel by the way."
"Y/n."
"Okay, I guess I'll see you around." I smiled, walking out of the gym.
Later that night I saw a girl awkwardly standing in between two people and noticed it was her.
"Hey." I smiled, walking over to her.
She gave me a smile smile and wave.
"Do you know her?" one of the guys asked.
"Yeah. Are you bothering her?"
"Nope."
I looked her and she mouthed "help".
"Um, well nice to meet you guys, but we're gonna go talk elsewhere."
"What? We were having fun!" they said.
I grabbed her hand and we walked away from them.
"Hey, are you okay?" I asked her when we went into the kitchen.
"Yeah. Thanks for helping me."
"Of course. Thanks for coming."
"I don't know why I came cause parties aren't my thing. I guess it's just cause I wanted to you, cutie, again."
"Awe, you're making me blush." I gushed.
"Do you want something to drink?"
"Um, I think I'm good. I don't want to drink anything that's spiked." she said.
"I understand. I can get you a drink without any alcohol though."
"No, that's okay. I think I might go home now."
"Aw, no, you should stay!"
"I'm okay. I'm getting tired anyways."
"Okay, okay. Did you drive here?"
"No, I live really close so I walked."
"Ah, I see. I'll come with you cause I don't want anything to happen to you."
"Are you sure?"
I nodded.
"Okay, it's like a ten minute walk so I hope you don't mind."
"Of course I don't. Let's go."
She nodded and walked in front of me, exiting the house.
"So um, if you don't mind, why were you upset earlier?"
"Oh nothing. It's stupid."
"No, tell me."
"Okay, well, this guy that I've been talking to told me he had a girlfriend the whole time we were talking and yeah."
"Aw, I'm sorry." I frowned, pulling out my phone and turning on the flashlight.
"That's smart, and it's okay. I wasn't that into him anyways."
We made small talk for the rest of the time until we reached her house.
"Thanks for walking me home."
"Of course." I smiled.
"Um, well, I hope you get back safely."
"Yeah, I'll be fine, thanks. I'll see you at school?"
"Uh, yeah."
"Bye." I smiled.
She smiled.
I turned around and started walking.
"Hey, wait!"
"Yeah?"
"Can I get your number?"
I smiled. "Sure."
We quickly exchanged numbers and she said, "Let me know when you get there. Stay safe tonight."
"Yeah, I will. Thanks."
