"I know it's unpleasant to bring me to the Song household, but you need not show it on your face." Madam Kim told Namjoon, it was more like a warning. He excused himself and fixed his face along with his posture. She was right, it was unpleasant, only because he had to accompany her and also because the topic up for discussion is your wedding. But at least he will get to see you.

Madam Song stood by the gate to welcome Madam Kim. "It's a pleasure for you to visit us." she began.

"Please don't be so humble. The honor is mine." Madam Kim answered in a tone Namjoon had never heard used on him before. She only used it on people who she could use, and unfortunately, the Song family was on her list.

"I apologize that Y/N isn't here to greet you. She's occupied with cooking right now. She wants you to enjoy a meal that she made"

"Oh, that daughter of yours can take all the time in the world. She is precious." Lady Madam smiled, but on the inside, she felt a little annoyed. Namjoon couldn't help but nod in agreement when she called you precious but stopped himself before anyone could notice. The party then moved to the garden Madam Song had already cleaned up and prepared tea for. Both ladies settled down and exchanged brief conversations about the weather, minor politics, and sometimes about the wedding.

"I apologize that my son has taken so long to decide on the wedding date." Lady Madam explained. Namjoon internally gagged because they were all lies. "He believes in fortune teller and apparently, it's not a good month."

"I see." Madam Song nodded, sipping her tea. Her eyes closed, praying that everything will turn out the way her daughter wants.

"Yes," Madam Kim answered, sensing the other woman was getting suspicious. "But today I am here to talk about the ceremony to assure that Seokjin is head over heels for Y/N." This time, Namjoon couldn't help but snicker. What a load of crap. It was heartless enough for Seokjin to outright deny you, but then for his mother to continue the charade was something evil. Madam Kim cast a glare at Namjoon, he knew for sure he would get scolding on the way home. "You," she said to him. "Why don't you go play with the other guards." It wasn't a suggestion, it was a command.

Namjoon bowed to both women and made his way to the front. His heart tugged him elsewhere though, and the next thing he knew, he was by the kitchen. The red caught his eye instantly. He watched as your gracefully move between stations, tasting and adding ingredients. He was glad that it was just you right now, because he could almost have you to himself. Namjoon particularly likes the face you make when you seem satisfied with something. It brings a weird sense of joy to him. That's why he would always let you win games when you were little.

As you were going to get the plates, your heart almost stopped when you saw a strange figure at the door. The blood began pumping again when you recognized that it was only Namjoon. It wasn't the first time you caught him staring at you, or the second. And you could never decipher the meaning behind it. Or maybe you never really tried. It won't matter soon. "Namjoon," you called out, snapping him out of the daze. He seemed flustered that you caught him.

"My apologies, Lady SOng. I didn't mean to bother you."

"Nonsense, I'm glad you're here." you answered.

"You are?"

"Yes, I need someone to taste this food." you sighed. "I want to make a good impression on Madam Kim. I will be her daughter-in-law soon and it will be my duty to cook."

"Is that all you want in life?" Namjoon asked, he hadn't meant to but the words just spilled out.

You looked at him with confused eyes, "I'm sorry?"

"I am sorry, I overstepped my boundaries. Don't take what I said to heart." he said quickly. But the meaning had already sunk in you.

"No, you are right." you shook your head. "This definitely wasn't the life I had imagined as a little girl. I wanted to live a life before I wed, but I'm not sure what changed. I feel uncertain about the future and the marriage, but Seokjin loves me, and that's all I need to be certain."

Although you were smiling, Namjoon felt the immense sorrow emanating from it. His own heart was breaking. How could he let the love of his life suffer a loveless marriage with someone who doesn't deserve her. The answer was no, he could never. But then what can he do. Once again, his mouth opened without his permission. "He doesn't love you." his voice said without his permission.
Your head immediately snapped to him. "What did you just say?"

Namjoon gulped and pulled something out of his garment. You recognized that it was a handkerchief you had sewed for your lover. It had your signature daisy on the corner. Wrapped up inside was a few other things you had gotten him, the jade pendant, the good luck charm for his studies, your lavender pouch. "Every month, the maids would toss out things. When I saw these, I knew that they were from you and asked them if they made a mistake. They told me the young Master had asked them to toss these out personally."

With every word, the objects felt heavier in your hands. "No, it can't be. Maybe he was mistaken and..." You dare not to let the tears out in front of Namjoon.

He shook his head, "It was not a mistake."

"What about the letters?" you yelled, everything became too much.

"He had stopped writing them since the proposal."

You gasped. "What? Then who..."

"It was me." Namjoon answered loudly. "I've been writing the letters for him."

"Why? Why would you continue to fool me if you knew of this?"

"Because...because I love you, Y/N."
