It took many minutes and some bribery from Lady Park to convince Commander Jeon to stay in the town a bit longer so that you could look after Yoongi. Namjoon was right behind you as you two walked back to the run-down house. In fact, he hadn't left your side since last night, not that he had any other choice. The soldiers and Commander Jeon remained with the supplies while you, Namjoon, and Lady Park stayed in some houses. The townspeople found it odd and unconventional that an unmarried lady would sleep next to a man who wasn't her husband, but they were nice enough to not say anything.
As expected, Taehyung sat by the bed, holding his brother's hand tightly. It seemed that the boy hadn't slept all night. Even though you assured him that nothing would happen during the night and that the medicine would help Yoongi's body remain stable, Taehyung was still worried that he would leave in some form in the middle of the night. When he heard you approaching, he stood up quickly, too quickly where his body fumbled and Namjoon caught him in time.
"Taehyung, please, you need to rest." you reminded him. The boy looked down, feeling guilty and conflicted.
"No, I have to look after hyung." he said quietly.
"I'm here now, I'll go make some more medicine and I will look after him."
He looked at Yoongi, who was still sleeping, then back at you. "Alright, thank you Lady-I mean Y/N." Namjoon, who was more responsible than you, had brought some blankets from the supply wagon and tucked Taehyung into the corner of the bed he saved for himself. The boy closed his eyes, and soon, drifted off to dreamland.
Namjoon panicked when he saw the glimmer in your eyes, he rushed over, holding your shoulders. "Y/N, why are you crying? Are you okay?"
"I just feel so stupid." you whispered, the tears trailing down your cheeks. "All this time, I only ever thought of my own problems when the world is so cruel to everyone else." You wiped your eyes roughly, and left red marks on your cheeks. Namjoon frowned, and gently graze his thumb on the cheek.
"Please don't cry, you didn't know." he hummed, "It's not your fault. And what you're doing right now, for the two of them, is amazing." You were surprised at how close he actually was to you, physically. You could feel his heart beating, smell the musk on his clothes, and his warm breath. The moment felt right, as right as it could ever be. His eyes softened and his lips parted. You blinked a few times, then closed your eyes completely, unsure of what you were expecting to happen. Namjoon was wondering the same thing, and let his body move instead. He leaned closer, temptations numbing him. It was what he had been waiting to do since the first boat ride over to your house. He shouldn't want it, but the heart wants what it wants.
Taehyung stirred in his sleep and Namjoon instantly pushed himself away, feeling his cheeks burning. Your eyes opened, and you immediately turned your back to him, trying to focus on making the medicine. Your body was still shaking from what happened, or at least what could have happened. The room feel silence as you two did your business. You noticed that Namjoon had his eyes fixed outside, the boys from the town was playing soccer. A small smile formed on his face, and it made your heart break a little. He never got the chance to enjoy playing such games when he was younger. Sure, he had Seokjin, but he was as good as a stick. "You should go join them." you suggested. His shoulder jumped, not expecting you to say anything, then they fell.
"No, I shouldn't leave you. Besides, you need help here." he said.
"I think I'll be fine, and you won't be too far away." you said. He glanced at the door, then back at you and grinned.
"I'll be back." Then you watched as he giddily ran to the boys, intercepting the ball. Your body was starting to feel the effect, but you shouldn't call him back. He had such a radiating smile on his face right now.
"You love him, right?" You jumped, turning around to see Taehyung had woken up. Though it was only a short amount of time, his complexion looked better.
"What?"
"I saw it, the way you looked at him. It was so sad, and as if you were letting him go forever." Taehyung continued.
"I will have to let him go," you sighed, there was no point in denying that part. "I don't know if that's love or just me being selfish."
"Love is selfish," Taehyung hummed. "Like how I want Yoongi hyung to get better so that I can continue to annoy him for the rest of his life." You sat down on the bed, handing the medicine to Taehyung. He wasted no time to feed it to his brother.
"I'm sure your brother is eager to get better too, so he can continue to look after you."
"Hyung is a great person. He was studying to become a court minister. He wants to help people in our town and in similar ones. He got caught up with the wrong crowd, and they made him like this. But I swear he's a good person."
"I believe you." you offered.
"You're a good person too, Y/N. And I know he feels the same way about you."
"How would you know?"
"I'm observant." he shrugged. "And at the end of the day, I'm a man, I know the signs."
You chuckled, "I don't doubt that, but it doesn't change the fact the we can never be together."
Taehyung tilted his head, "Have you decided that?"
"I..." Before you could answer, Taehyung was already looking at something else. His brother, who had woken up. You grabbed the bowl from Taehyung before he could drop it. And he needed his arms to hug Yoongi, who had a tired smile on.
"Hyung, you finally woke up. I was so worried about you." Taehyung cried.
"It takes a lot to kill me." Yoongi chuckled quietly. His brother was unamused by his joke and pouted. "I'm sorry for worrying you."
"How are you feeling?" you asked. "I'm Y/N."
"She made you some medicine for the drug." Taehyung explained.
"I feel lighter, in a good way. Like the drug is seeping out of my body." Yoongi answered. Then he sat up without help, and observed his hands. The discoloration had faded. Taehyung's eyes grew as he tackled Yoongi one more time.
"I'm so glad." you beamed. Happy tears streamed down your cheek. Miracles do happen, but it's not granted from some holy beings. It was made by the decisions people make. From outside, someone rushed through the door. When you saw him, your feet moved automatically and your arms slithered around his torso. He stood frozen, unsure if it was right for him to hug you back. He looked up, finding Taehyung aggressively nodding his head and Namjoon took it as a sign that he should wrap his arms around you. Compared to having your body scrunched next to him on the boat, hugging you was much different and warmer. He knew it would be addicting, so did you.
Going back to what Taehyung said earlier, being apart from Namjoon is not what you want, ever.
