Madam Li couldn't accepted her fate. She could not accept the fact that her throne was going to be taken over by a son she never wanted. She couldn't believe that her end would be her own sister. There was no way she could let that happen.

Lifting her chin up, she pulled out a concealed dagger from her sleeve. The same one she used to kill the man she thought would stay with her forever. Ironic, she thought, it had been the only time where she cried. She rushed foward, raising the blade high. The intent was to kill. And even though she knew she was going to die afterwards, she was completely fine with that.

Your eyes widened. Everything around was slowing down and you had no time to think. Without another thought, you pushed Namjoon down to the side. A quiet scream escaped your lips. Namjoon's heart dropped to his stomach at the same time your bloody body hit the floor. Madam Li gasped, she couldn't stop herself in time. Namjoon crawled over to your body. His tears made their way out as he saw the blood pouring from your stomach. You were still breathing, just barely. He picked your body up and cradled you in his arms.

Namjoon snapped his head towards the madam, and her body literally froze from terror. "You," he howled.

"I-I'm sorry," she begged. "D-don't hurt me, please." Namjoon screamed. With a swing of his hand, Madam Li's body flew to the farthest wall of the room. She screamed out of pain, and crashed onto the floor.

"Y/N, wake up, please." he cried. The color was draining from your face. Being still new to his magic, Namjoon did what he could to stop your bleeding, but you still fell unconscious. "Why would you do that? I should be the one protecting you." His tears continued to flow, and he doesn't know when or if it would ever stop.

Somewhere outside the wall, Commander Jeon grew tired of waiting. Even with his lover safely back at his side, he could not let his two guests remain stuck in SilverStone. He raised his sword up, and horses rushed passed him like a stampede. His men charged foward, swords clashing with the force from the other side. Bodies began falling, yelling could be heard from all around. Commander Jeon galloped on his horse right through the middle of the battle. He pushed through the front gate and jumped down from his horse.

The battlefield was something he had always loved. The adrenaline, the rigor, the energy. It was dangerous to say the least. Everytime he leaves, there was no certainty that he would come back alive. That was the reason he rejected Lady Park's offer to elope the first time. He couldn't abandon his country, and she could not leave her family behind. But he promised himself that if everything in SilverStone finish in one piece, he'll beg Empress Wei to retract the marriage with Lord Jung.

He fought easily through the guards in front of the prince's quarter. Lady Park and the witch said that you would be here. Commander Jeon had so many questions but those were reserved for later when there aren't blood and men chasing after him. Some of his men joined his side and cleared a path for him to enter the quarter. He ran through the door and stopped when he saw a few fallen guards near a golden door. He took a deep breath, then proceeded.

Commander Jeon was expecting to see the evil queen standing on her pedestal while her prisoners were tied up and gagged in a corner. He was not expecting to see the madam, in her sleek black robe, laying on the ground like a helpless snake. He had wanted to see her face to face properly, so that he could spit on her for all the suffering she had caused people in the two kingdoms.

He also was not expecting to see a knife in your stomach, and Namjoon cradling your body. "What happened?" he asked as he approached the distraught Namjoon.

"S-she took the stab for me," he answered. "It should have been me."

"There's no time to feel sorry for yourself," Commander Jeon interrupted. "We have to get her medical attention."

"There's no doctor in this palace. Madam Li never allowed anyone to touch her." He glanced down at your unconscious state, holding your hand tighter.

"Alright, we'll find someone." the commander nodded. "For now, let's move her somewhere safe. After the battle is over, we'll go back to Sacred Skies."

Namjoon felt tore, "I can't leave."

The commander blinked in disbelief. "What?" He had fought hard to help his two guest escape this place, but Namjoon wanted to stay. He couldn't understand why.

"This is my home. As bad as it is, this is my responsibility. I can't abandon my duty as the prince of SilverStone." Namjoon answered.

"But you don't have to if you don't want to Namjoon."

"I do want to, I want to make this place thrive and I want the people here to stay alive and healthy. And if I go back to Sacred Skies, there's nowhere for me to go." Namjoon added.

The other boy exhaled. It was a familiar feeling to him. He didn't feel that Sacred Skies was the right place for him. It had always been so constricting, with politics and rules that dictated his life since birth. He was sick of them all.

"What about her?"

Namjoon didn't want to think about it, it was breaking his heart further. He had just found out that you love him, the only thing that gave him strength and joy. But at the end of the day, your well-being takes precedence over his own happiness. "I guess when it's time, I'll have to let her go."
