It was Namjoon that had his back towards you. You could recognize his figure anywhere, and his silky black hair, along with rough hands. Even through the sleek raven robe and headpiece, you could pick him out like a needle in a haystack. And yet even though he was directly in front of you, it felt like he was far away. Your Namjoon was not here, he didn't have that musky scent or warm aura. Despite that, you were too happy to see that he was alive and well.

Your feet rushed over to him, and you wrapped your arms around him, pressing your face against his back. "I'm so glad you're okay," you exhaled. His body was firm, and it didn't seem that he had lost any weight, which made you glad. The old Namjoon would have jumped, and gently pushed you away while blushing. This Namjoon stood tall, and unmoving. Slowly, your arms dropped to your sides and you took a step back. "Namjoon?"

At the sound of you calling his name, he spun around regally. His chin was up, and he stared at you right in your eyes. The old Namjoon would never had the courage to do that, because of both your rankings, and his deep affection for you. You searched the man's eyes for clues as to what happened, and a small part of you was hoping you could still see the love he holds for you in his pupils. You found none. Instead, he looked at you the way Seokjin's mother had shunned him, the way society had glared at him for his origin. He never dared to look at you like that, even when he was hurt.

"Namjoon," you called out again. "Are you okay?"

"What are you doing here?" he asked sharply. It caught you off guard, the ice in his voice.

"I-I came to save you." you answered.

"Save me?" he scoffed. "You were the reason why I got into this situation in the first place."

You furrowed your eyebrows, "Look, I said I'm sorry already. Please, that's not who I am anymore."

"You will always be a spoiled and selfish noblewoman who will never love anyone except those with money and power." he stated plainly.

"That's not true," you yelled. You could feel the burning of the tears. "I know I have made mistakes before and I was spoiled, yes. You might not believe me but I have changed during our time together and I am so grateful for that. I can't erase the hurt I have caused you, but I promise I'll spend my life making up for it."

"You're only saying that now because I'm a prince. I have a kingdom, I have money and all the power in the world." he declared. He raised his arms up and admired everything in the room. "All of this is mine. You had no part in this, it was all my mother's blessing for me."

That reminded you of something important. "Namjoon, please listen to me. You can say all you want about me, but listen to me about your mother. She is not who you think she is. She does not love you, she only wants you so she could regain her political powers. And then she'll kill you. You have to escape this place."

Namjoon's eyes widened, like he was processing what you just said. "Is that true?"

You nodded, feeling relieved that something was getting to him."Yes, please, you can leave with me right now and your aunt can break the curse." You reached out to take his hand but he yanked it back.

"Did you really think I would believe your lies?" he laughed. All your hopes vanished, the tears flowed down your cheeks.

"It's not a lie," you cried. "She doesn't love you."

"If she doesn't love me, then why has the curse been broken?"

"What?"

"My mother broke the curse the second I woke up. I will no longer let you manipulate me with your words." Just then, his mother appeared like a snake from the corner. She placed a hand protectively on Namjoon's back.

"I see that you have escaped with my sister." she spoke. "I will have the guards execute you right away."

"What did you do to him?" you growled. "This isn't Namjoon."

"You mean this isn't the Namjoon that would dote after you and obey your every command." she remarked. "Now he is back to being my son, and the Prince of SilverStone. He will stay with me and take over the throne when his time comes."

"You're a monster." you yelled. "You don't love him, and you cannot make him take over your drug business."

She tilted her head, "And why not? It's in his blood after all, it's his calling."

"I will not let you hurt him." you warned. With eyes pinned on her, you bolted forward, in hopes of stopping whatever magic she had on Namjoon. But before you could reach her, Namjoon caught your arms. You snapped your head towards him, again, searching for something in his eyes. Nothing. Instead, with the slightest bit of force, he flung you to the ground.

"Are you okay, mother?" he asked the Madam.

"Yes, my son."

Then he turned back to you. "I don't need you anymore, you're useless to me. And I will never love you."

The tears got stuck in your throat. You had been fearful that he would no longer feel the same way and you had accepted it, but not like this. Not with the snake around him. Not when you know it's not really him. The Madam pulled something from her sleeve and tossed it at your feet, it was the lavender pouch, crumbled and tore. With shaking hands, you picked it up and pressed it against your chest. Namjoon looked away.

"Guards," Madam Li called out, "Take her away. Find my sister and have them executed before sundown." Just like that, everything was over.
