"You alright?" John asked, his arm wrapped around Christine as they made their way to the front door of Mick's house, Christine had been asleep in the car after they got the take-out and now they were relieved to both be home, she still felt tired and John was worried about her still.
"Just tired and a bit nauseous!" Christine replied, letting John lead her up to the front door which she reached out to open when suddenly Mick already had pulled it open and stood their smiling at them.
"Finally, what a long time to get some takeaway!" He chuckled and Christine instantly felt shyer, worried he would suspect she was carrying his baby already, since all the talk about it being possibly had already been thrown around over the weeks whilst Stevie had been in rehab.
"Traffic I guess!" John shrugged, finding it hard to lie to his best mate, but he had to, for Christine's sake he felt, she was his wife after all and he had to put her first, he didn't know how much more stress she could handle, she was already shook up from the news of the pregnancy and he was worried about her physical and mental state.
"Chris, you look ill?" Mick stated, still concerned for her as he took in her pale complexion, he had noticed how withdrawn she had been the previous few days as well and he wasn't that naïve, he was worried he had gotten her pregnant and she was freaking out about it.
"I am ill, looking at you makes me ill!" Christine remarked and threw a laugh in but Mick still suspected more after her joke.
"Chris is just moody because she isn't drinking as much, she didn't want to set Stevie off track by boozing up in front of her!" John chuckled, patting Christine's back "How is Stevie?" John then asked to get the subject off of Christine, feeling how she was tensing up.
"Here is Stevie!" Stevie called out giggling as she walked up behind Mick and wrapped her arms around him from behind, looking like a tiny little doll up against him.
Christine and John instantly smiled, happy to see her beaming and cheerful again "How are you darling?" Christine instantly asked, feeling her soul fill with warmth as she looked at her exuberantly happy best friend, trying to forget for a few moments that they were both pregnant to Mick now.
"Just feeling refreshed, I had my first nap in this fairy tale castle, back in the real world!" Stevie beamed and then saw the paper bag and instantly knew "Wow, you both got food, I am famished, this baby has an appetite just like their daddy!" Stevie giggled, rubbing her stomach gently as she pulled back from Mick "Lets eat in the garden if you all want too, I will get some plates for us all!" She exclaimed excitedly, then paused "Do you all want to eat outside, don't turn your daily lives upside down for me!" She giggled a little shyly "I don't want to come and take over or anything!"
"It would lovely to eat outside Steph!" Christine smiled warmly, instantly cheered up, Stevie was like a little rainbow that made all the dull and stressful moments brighter with her smile, her laugh or something funny she said or did "And today is all about you darling, I am sorry we popped off so quick, we wanted to get something nice for you to eat!" Christine smiled, feeling twinges of guilt still.
"Aw Chris!" Stevie cooed and then walked to Christine and quickly pulled her into a hug "I missed you so much Chrissy, there was so many things I wanted to talk to you about in person and tell you while I was in rehab! The phone calls were lovely but, I wanted you at the scans with me too!" She said to her "I am so glad to see you again and I cant wait to catch up properly now I am free!" She exclaimed, tears of happiness bubbling up around the edges of her eyes as she gently took Christine's hands in hers.
"I missed you too and I'm so sorry Stevie!" Christine exclaimed, wrapping her arms around Stevie and hugging her as she held back from sobbing while tears of guilt streamed down her cheeks.
